Subject: Three Dog Night
Written By: RockandRollFan on 06/09/04 at 11:45 am
From 1969-1974, nobody had more Top 10 hits, moved more records, or sold more concert tickets. During this period Three Dog Night was undoubtedly the most popular band in America: twenty-one consecutive Top 40 hits and twelve straight gold LPs. By late '75, they had sold nearly 50 million records. Just some tid-bits for those who may not have known or those who think they weren't that popular ;) I chose "Out In The Country" with "One" close behind.
Whenever I need to leave it all behind
Or feel the need to get away
I find a quiet place, far from the human race
Out in the country
Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin'
Whenever I feel them closing in on me
Or need a bit of room to move
When life becomes too fast, I find relief at last
Out in the country
Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin'
Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin'
Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin' worth rememberin'
Before the breathin' air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime...
I stand alone...

Fantastic band who amazingly only had one-and-a-half hits here...!
I went for the ol' favourite...'Mama Told Me Not To Come'
...but the majority of their output was classy...EXCEPT their awful clumsy version of Leo Sayer's 'The Show Must Go On' - best avoided...!

Hmmm...didn't we already do a 3DN music poll? ???
Anyway, I agree with RnRFan. It's "Out In the Country" for me too. :)
For others I'd go with "Easy To Be Hard", "Pieces Of April", and...ohhh about 3/4's of "Celebrate".
:) ;)

I believe that I am the one who started the "Other" poll! Anyway, I agree with you zcrito, how long can one "Celebrate" sitting on a pillow ::)

Yes, they're sitting on a pillow, but waiting to climb the walls. I always liked that part. It's the ending (about its last 30 seconds) that I never liked. >:(
;) :)

Have to go with Joy to the World-because it reminds me of a time when I was a kid. I also like One (just about anything by Nielson), Just an Old Fashion Love Song, Eli's Coming, and Black and White. I love the song Easy to be Hard but not the way 3DN did it. It is much better on the Hair Soundtrack.

Momma Told Me Not to Come, theres something about the song that is a little "off' that makes it attractive to me. ;)
Its not, like the band, not of the usual stuff...

I'm with you gumbypiz on "Momma" interesting song. Also love Shambala.
But what about "black & white?"  That's a classic... I'd have to go for that one.

Had to pick "Old Fashion Love Song"
I forgot about "The Show Must Go On" and "Black and White" they were the only 45's of 3DN that I owned.
