Subject: A "Dance With Me" question...

Written By: zcrito on 06/26/04 at 2:39 am

A question about Orleans and their song "Dance With Me" (1975). Does anyone have the album that song is off of?

I heard many, many years ago (about a year after it came out) that there's a poignant intro to that song that involves a Princess who has only one leg. She's at a Ball and the music starts to play and she either asks or dreams that one of the Princes will dance with her. That's what "Dance With Me" is about. It's been awhile so I've probably got it all wrong, but is that true? Am I close?

The song always made more sense after I heard (or I dreamed) that story. ::)

The album is "Still the One" plus it is on the Greatest Hits album

Dance with me, I want to be your partner
Can't you see the music is just starting?
Night is falling, and I am calling
Dance with me

Fantasy could never be so giving
I feel free, I hope that you are willing
Pick your feet up, and kick your feet up
Dance with me

Let it lift you off the ground
Starry eyes, and love is all around
I can take you where you want to go

Dance with me, I want to be your partner
Can't you see the music is just starting?
Night is falling, and I am calling
Dance with me

Let it lift you off the ground
Starry eyes, and love is all around
I can take you where you want to go

Fantasy could never be so giving
I feel free, I hope that you are willing
To pick your feet up, kick your feet up
And dance with me

Dance with me, I want to be your partner
Can't you see the music is just starting?
Night is falling, and I am calling
Dance with me

Dance with me

Dance with me

Thanks Cat but I need something else...

A friend of mine in the '70s was a member of those music clubs - you know, pay $1 and get your first 10 albums for free, but then buy one a month at regular price after that. Well, he would make his first 10 albums something he wouldn't normally buy (limited economic resources!) and then cancel the subscription after about a month. Anyway, he had the Orleans album and told me there was a spoken intro to the song "Dance With Me" about what I described in my previous post.

So, I don't need the lyrics, I just need to know if the original album had a spoken intro to that song?

Thanks!

I did include that on my first post "Still the One" is the name of the album. I just included the lyrics as an extra.  ;)

No, I'm just talking about the song "Dance With Me" by Orleans, which was originally on the album "Let There Be Music" and much later on a compilation album called "Still the One".
Anyone who has the original album could answer my question.

I have the LP called "Let There Be Music" on Asylum Records that was released in 1975....I believe this to be the original LP that features "Dance With Me"  ;)

RnRFan,
Yes! Hurry! But don't do it for me. Do it to put Max out of his misery.
(or better yet, don't find the answer and keep him miserable...)
