Subject: Moody Blues Poll

Written By: CeramicsFanatic on 07/08/04 at 1:18 pm

I know Mark isn't too crazy about these guys but I love them!  My favorite is "The Story In Your Eyes".  Others that I like a lot include "The Voice", "Your Wildest Dreams" and "The Other Side Of Life".  :)

Altho' almost a close three-way tie with "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" and "The Story in Your Eyes."

Well ride my freakin' see-saw! The Moody Blues. How did they slip by all this time without a music poll? They must've been hangin' out with Cat Stevens. ???

When I was a teen I was a major Moody fan. For me their best stuff was from Days of Future Past to Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. Anything before that or after just wasn't as good. I even think they did a "Disco" song in the '70s (I'll check).

Favorites now would be...

Question (from Question of Balance)  :)
Tuesday Afternoon ( from Days of Future Past)
Nights in White Satin ( from Days of Future Past)

:) ;D

I voted for Knight in White Satin-I love the entire album Days of Future Past. I also like When the Light Go Down (also from the album Days...) and I do like In Your Wildest Dreams.

today I picked "I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)"

The Moodys are in my top ten all time fav bands and I could easily pick any other songs on other days.
These guys certainly belong in the RRHOF before many others.
The Pretenders before The Moody Blues??? ::)

I chose other. "Legend Of A Mind" is my favorite
Moody's Blues song.

As for "Nights In White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon,"
though great songs, the radio just plays them too much.

Hey, how'd this escape me? Well the Story in your eyes is one of my fav commerical cuts. Johns' bass playing is just so awesome. Like lightening.
My fav non commercial deep album Johnsong cut would most likely be Nervous from LDV. My fav Justune is New Horizons.

Ride my see-saw...

I saw them in '93 w/ the Nat. Symphony Orch.  at Wolf Trap.  Awesome, awesome show!  One of my all-time favorite concerts.

Similarly ... with Al Stewart  ... of the UK ... whose only placing was a pathetic #31  ... for the 'Year of the cat'.

Then there's the Alan Parsons Project ... (also from UK) ... just 2 chart 'successes' ... 'Old and wise' .. if you call #74 for ONE week ... a 'success'  ::)  ... and 'Don't Answer Me' ... which achieved a staggering placement of #58  ::)  .... for 3 weeks !

Sometimes ... my fellow countrymen's lack of taste (I am UK born ) .. is a total embarrassment. That these artists had to be truly appreciated in North America    :-X    .... I guess you guys have better taste !  :)

Well of the 'Poll offerings' ... as much as 'Nights in White Satin' is their most well known ? .... I'd have to go with 'Tuesday Afternoon' ... a song which unlike the former ... I can never hear enough of.  As an atheist ... I almost find it a religious experience .... and LOVE to sing along .. with all the emotion I can muster !    8)

I loved that Natural Avenue charted in the UK. Was it the LP or the single? Cause there are way better songs on that Lp than Natural Ave.
Summer Breeze, Carry me, need I go on?

Songwriter never cracked the charts either huh? Thats just a shame :\'( :\'(

I too am Shocked that they didn't chart more in the UK

Psssst. I am a closet Al Stewart fan too....

Al's great!  I saw him 2x  in a small venue in D.C.  He had Laurence Juber (of Wings) play with him on one tour.  They were really good.  He's an awesome storyteller.  The Cd  Famous Last Words is an excellent taste of his newer stuff, with songs like Trains and Charolotte Corday.  Year of the cat is stiill good in its own right, though.  Love the saxophone.

For me .... and I DO like the 'Year of the Cat' album ... particularly the title track, 'On the Border' ... and 'Lord Grenville' .... all fantastic songs ....  QUALITY wise ..... I reckon 'Time Passages' ... is a better album .... cos there's only ONE song on it .... I don't  thinks at least 8 out of 10 .... that being 'Valentino Way'.

I do know that ChuckyG the owner of this site .... also highly rates this album / stated it was gorgeous (for what it's worth)  .... or words to that effect.

Yes ... Time Passages is definitely one of my all time favorites !
