Subject: Does Anyone Remember This Song?
Written By: CatwomanofV on 07/20/04 at 6:30 pm
I remember a song-well it was kind of spoken by a Canadian who was talking about the U.S. It came out about 1972-73 around there. I did a quick search but couldn't find it. Does anyone know the name of it or the guy who did it?
Thanks
Cat

I think you're thinking of 1974's
"The Americans" by Gordon Sinclair. ???

Certainly was, zcrito...the full details of which can be found here...
The 'unauthorised' record that this piece refers to was (I think) the version by Byron MacGregor - which became the bigger hit...
It's certainly stirring stuff, if a little off-the-wall...

Yeah, I think that is it. I found a link that I could hear it. I didn't know what he was really talking about when it came out in 73/74 but now reading/hearing it, yes it is touching but now I know that there was a lot of other things going on behind the scenes so I am looking at it from a different perspective then when I first heard it as a kid.
Thanks guys for finding that for me.
