Subject: Rock on! Help finding these oldies...

Written By: Betha on 12/02/04 at 7:55 pm

Can someone help me find these 2 oldies? They're usually played on 3WS, but I don't know the groups.
The first one goes:
"Jimmy, oh Jimmy, oh Jimmy back when are you coming back...Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy back, you'd better hurry back"

The next is that "What a day for a daydream, thinkin bout my bundle of joy..." song
Anyone know this? Thanks

Oh! I thought of one more. Someone from another site told me the artist that sang this hit, but it turned out to be wrong. It goes:
"Since you've been gone, all that's left is broken heart...all that's left are the dreams I hold..."
I really appreciate any clues

The first one is "Jimmy Mack" by Martha and the Vendellas (later done by Sheena Easton)

Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back?
Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back?
My arms are missing you, my lips feel the same way too
I tried so hard to be true, like I promised I'd do
But this boy keeps coming around, he's trying to wear my resistance down
Chorus:
Hey Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back
Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back
He calls me on the phone, about three times a day
Now my heart's just listening to what he has to say
But this loneliness that I have within keeps reaching out to be his friend
chorus
Need your loving, need your loving
(Instrumental break)
I wanna say, I'm not getting any stronger, I can't hold out very much longer
Trying hard to be true, but Jimmy, he talks just as sweet as you
chorus
Need your loving, need your loving
Need your loving, need your loving...
(Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back) (repeats out)...

The second one is "What a Day for a Daydream" by the Lovin' Spoonfuls.

What a day for a daydream
What a day for a daydreamin' boy
And I’m lost in a daydream
Dreamin ‘bout my bundle of joy

And even if time ain’t really on my side
It’s one of those days for takin' a walk outside
I’m blowin’ the day to take a walk in the sun
And fall on my face on somebody's new mowed lawn

I've been havin’ a sweet dream
I been dreamin’ since I woke up today
It’s starrin’ me and my sweet dream
Cause she's the one that makes me feel this way

And even if time has passed me by a lot
I couldn't care less about the dues you say I got
Tomorrow I'll pay the dues for droppin’ my load
A pie in the face for bein’ asleep before dawn

And you can be sure that if you're feelin’ right
A daydream will last along into the night
Tomorrow at breakfast you can pick up your ears
Or you may be daydreamin for a thousand years

What a day for a daydream
Custom made for a daydreamin’ boy
And now I’m lost in a daydream
Dreamin ‘bout my bundle of joy

Didn't see that one. You are right.

Now that you're gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dream I hold
Is a band of gold
And the memories of what love could be
If you are still here with me

You took me from the shelter of a mother I had never known
Who loved any other
We kissed after taking vows
But that night on our honeymoon
We stayed in separate rooms

I wait in the darkness of my lonely room
Filled with sadness, filled with gloom
Hoping soon that you'll walk
Back through that door
And love me like you tried before

Since you've been gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dream I hold
Is a band of gold
And the dream of what love could be
If you are still here with me

Ooh, don't you know that I wait in the darkness of my lonely room
Filled with sadness, filled with gloom
Hoping soon that you'll walk
Back through that door
And love me like you tried before

Since you've been gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dream I hold
Is a band of gold
And the dream of what love could be
If you are still here with me

Oh I LOVE Band of Gold!!! Ive owned the vinyl single for some time, but only recently (around 6 months ago) got it on CD...I LOVE it. Originally, at least here in Australia, Band Of Gold was released on an Ep with 4 other songs by Freda Payne, and it is apparently pretty rare. I found a copy once, but it was so scratched it wouldnt play, so I took it back  :( .
