The series was about a widow who moved into an English cottage that was haunted by a sea captain. The widow was played by Hope Lange? Who played the Captain and what was his name in the story? Possibly it was televised in the "80s? :-\\

The orginal movie came out in 1947 (which I love) starred Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison. The series which lasted from 1968-1970, starred Hope Lange and Edward Mulhare played Capt. Daniel Gregg. (Charles Nelson Riley also had a role in the series). I did like the series but think the movie was much better.
