Subject: Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac is one of the great bands of the 70's. But which song is the best In your opinion.

Ive picked Dont Stop.

With Go Your Own Way a close 2nd.

And Rhiannon is a close 3rd.

The Chain

And I have to say, I am sorry, I cannot resist, that I thought at the time, and still do, that "Tusk" was the biggest cop-out in terms of a follow up to a successful album that there has ever been in the history of popular music  >:(

My apologies, JoeDeertae, as I see you voted for it.  Nothing personal at all.  I just thought it was a lousy effort following Rumors and I am still convinced they did it simply to cash in on the success of the previous album..... :(

'Don't Stop' for me (although why Status Quo decided to cover it some years later remains something of a mystery)...although they're all good in their own little way...

I rate their best stuff from the late 60s days when 'Greenie' was the prime mover of the band...'Black Magic Woman' being a fantastic example...

No apologies needed Fuss (to each his own) I was voting more for the song than the album. :P :) (I really like that song)
Although for an album with 18 or 20 songs I too would expect more than a handfull of favorite tunes.

Man that was a tough vote! I went with Go Your Own Way with Albatros and Tusk (quite a trip btw) being toss-ups.

Of those listed, I know "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams" fairly well. "Landslide" isn't listed, but that one's good too. (It was covered by Smashing Pumpkins ten years ago and by the Dixie Chicks two years ago, and I've heard both of those versions.)

I agree with you, like Joe Dirt I voted for the song and not the album. I think its just a great song.  Rumours was such a great album that anything that followed it would seem lame :)

Albatross was released in the UK in December 1968, and re-released in May 1973.

Lanslide, Over my head.

I always cite Rumours as a perfect album.....
Every song is a winner & flows into the next.....
{I also think Carole King's Tapestry is another "perfect" set of songs}

Rumours does not have 1 bad song on it, very true. Tapestry was great as well. I also liked every song from Billy Joel's "The stranger". It has a very New York 1970's kinda feel. ..and there's always side 2 of Abbey Road, Revolver, Rubber Soul...but I'm fading into the 60's now...

Joel's The Stranger was a good...ok...great album.
That & Joel's Greatest Hits are the only Joel CDs I own......
Rumours and Tapestry are just definative 70's albums to Me.
