Subject: Dark side of the moon vs Ziggy Stardust

Both landmark concept albums of the early 70s period by legendary artists. While I know they differ in many ways, which do you prefer from a listener's point of view, and which do you think influenced popular music more? While DSOTM probably had more influence, I think Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders from Mars, apart from being Bowie's best album, is a more enjoyable listen.
Also, what were your favourite song (s) from each album and least favourite? If possible rank from most to least favourite...

I voted against Floyd, if for no other reason, seems like all the parties I DJ'd back in the day, had stoners constantly saying..."Dude, play more Floyd" ::) I actually don't mind Pink Floyd, though radio stations played them into the ground :P...but actually enjoy Bowie a bit more :)

Dude, play more Floyd ;) I still like Dark Side alot, Money & Time are getting a little played out but it's still an album I like to listen to front to back. I like Bowie's but DSOTM gets my vote :)

darn, i love pink floyd and i love david bowie. i'm not choosing, both albums are awesome. i never liked money, it's so overplayed. as to spiders, i love the whole album.

Very difficult, but 'Ziggy' just gets it by the closest of margins...
Bowie possibly peaked too early with this set, he's had the occasional flash of brilliance since, but has never quite delivered a finer set of songs on one bit of plastic than this lot...
Strange but true - despite their deserved 'classic' status and both being available for over thirty years, neither album has ever topped the UK's album chart...!!

I agree. It absolutely would ruin a party. I simply love Ziggy more b/c I loved the style!

IMHO, Dark Side of the Moon is unlistenable unless you are on drugs. Heavy drugs - ha ha! :P

DSOTM: Money and Us And Them
Ziggy Stardust: Starman, Star, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City. Starman is an awesome song...one of Bowie's best.

Or do you simply mean that DSOTM has been overhyped as opposed to the Bowie album ? :)

I liked Bowie better, but Ziggy Stardust wasn't one of my favorite albums of his, so I picked DSOTM. :)
