Subject: Joe Walsh songs, before and after that other little band he's in
Written By: gord on 03/04/05 at 7:08 pm
Any Joe fans ? I'm just listening to some old James Gang stuff, The Bomber, Funk 49, Walk Away all great songs, and from later in the 70's, I don't think I'll ever get tired of Lifes Been Good :)

The obligatory 'Life's Been Good' and 'Rocky Mountain Way' in that order...
I have heard of 'Funk 49' (James Gang, I think...), but not heard it - worth getting?

I saw the James Gang at G Rollie White Collesium in College Station, Texas in 1971. It was the loudest concert I've ever been to. Walk Away or Funk 49, either one is great.

Can't believe nobody's said this one, imo their prettiest song - Midnight Man - was Joe singing lead?

Good song, I was gonna put it on the list. It was a duet, he shared vocals with a woman named Mary Sterpka :)

It's a beautiful song and the duet (thanks for the info) helps mellow Walsh's voice. Also thanks for this thread, as it sparked my memory of this song. I will definately find and download it into my collection of all-time best songs in my life!

I LOVE JOE WALSH!!!
Of course I voted for Life's been Good.
Help Me Through The Night,  Over and Over, Turn to Stone, Mother Says are a few of my other favorites.

My favourite was one he had in 1983 called "Space Age Whiz Kid". It was not a big hit, but it was still a hit, and it 's very catchy :)

Other - "Midnight Man"
While I liked all of Walsh's songs, I liked the James Gang period ones the best.
"Space Age Whiz Kid" was great!!!

A little known fact about Joe walsh. If you have the album
Emerson Lake & Palmer Works Vol. 1, Put on Carl Palmer's
side and and play the track "L.A.Nights" and you will hear Joe
Walsh on guitar and scat vocals. An excellent song.

I believe I had James Gang on 8 track and Funk 49 rocked!! of course Rocky Mountain Way and Life's Been Good aren't too shabby

If "Funk 49" is the song I'm thinking of, then yeah, it was a pretty badass song. I also chose "Walk Away" because the James Gang rocked, and I chose "Rocky Mountain Way" and "Life's Been Good" simply because they were classic rock anthems.
(Honorable mention: "Fairbanks, Alaska," because he mentions Lincoln, Nebraska.)

The only one of those songs I've ever heard of is Life's Been Good, but I much prefer his work with The Eagles.
