All these songs bring back memories. I LOVE Ray Stevens' Gitarzan and The Streak. I also remember Jim Stafford's Spiders and Snakes, along with Cow Patty, Wild Wood Weed, and My Boy Bill.

Ray Stevens is an odd one.
He could come up with some stupid novelty song but also something like "Everything Is Beautiful".
???

My husband and I LOVE to drive his youngest daughter crazy with that one. Both of us will start singing it (concidering both of us can't really sing) and she starts to scream and cover her ears.  ;D ;D We are soooo mean. (Could that be concidered abuse?  :-\\ ;))

My children still think I'm making that one up...they don't believe it's a real song, and I can't find a copy to prove otherwise. ;D

Although not what I'd class as a novelty, Ray did an enjoyable banjo and fiddle arrangement of the old standard 'Misty'...

And his version of 'In The Mood' was cluckin' good...!!

Anyone ever seen a streaker(s)?

It enjoyed a brief surge in Britain (just after the Americans flogged the idea to us...!), but it died a natural death due to our weather...

Lol - I saw about 8 streakers in single file squeezing through a raucus crowd in a packed pub in Atlanta, it was hilarious ;D

I heard this story (but can't verify its authenticity) that this guy was streaking in NYC and no one noticed and the only time he was stopped was because he tried to go into a restaurant and wasn't wearing a tie.

I was sixteen when the streaking fad hit. One of my friends was arrested for streaking around a local fast food restaurant. I had to drive his car home and tell his mother that he was being held in the county jail.

In Baltimore City back then, there were free rock concerts in Wyman Park on Sunday afternoon. Once, a guy and girl streaked through the crowd. A gang of bikers grabbed the guy and beat him up.

I remember a news story about a guy getting arrested in the US House of Representatives after streaking up to the podium, grabbing the mike and proclaiming that he was "Streaker of the House"!

l o l - If anyone wants to try streaking, you need a plan, eg. you need to go from point a to point b. Usually, someone will drop you off at point a and then you streak to b where you have clothes hidden, lol  ;D Good luck!

He ain't rude, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He ain't lewd, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
He's just in the mood to run in the nude  :o

Another late, great one...Lonnie Donegan...

...who, rather unfairly, is always regarded as a 'novelty' act in the States (mainly due to this one record), but here in Britain he'll forever be regarded as 'The King Of Skiffle', influencing many people including a certain John Lennon...

"She Got The Gold Mine (I Got The Shaft)" was a minor country hit for Jerry Reed in 1981 or 82

He had two big novelty pop hits in the early 70's with "Amos Moses" and "When You're Hot You're Hot"

There were two novelty songs that were popular in Canada in 1971.  One was called 'Do the Fuddle Duddle' by a group called The House of Commons and another one called 'Fuddle Duddle' by Antique Fair.  They were both released around the same time, and the idea of the song was to poke fun at Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau who may or may not have sworn in the House of Commons
