Subject: Cake mix...anyone remember this??

I seem to recall my mom baking cakes that came with it's own cardboard cake pan. All you did was add water and mix right in the pan and pop it into the oven. I think it also came with a packet of frosting.
Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? Or did I imagine it? ???

Yup-I remember them. Made them all the time. What I liked about them is that they were small-enough for about 3 people or so. I think they were called Stir-n-Bake. I wish they still made them.

I remember making them. I think the baking box came flat and you had to fold it yourself.
No idea what make they were though

I remember the 'Mary Baker' cakes where you mixed packet 'A' with packet 'B' ::)
This came with a type of fondant icing mix.

I dunno why but i saw this thread and thought of Jiffy Pop....do they still make it or has it been done away by the popularity of microwaves?

Oh yeah, they still make it. We bought some and popped it over the fire in our fireplace when we "camped" in the basement with our 4 year old daughter. It was GOOD!! IMO, better than microwave popcorn.

They still make it! My husband and I were laughing about it recently...how it always got burnt, and really wasn't very good, but the commercials really got the kids asking for it!

there was also a cake mix that was made for microwave ovens...forget the name though. It came with a special microwave pan...
