Hmmm.    ???

The question you asked - I think for many of us on this board, the answer is too big for a single post.  I think my favorite 70's songs must number in the hundreds!!!    ;D

Maybe I can name just a few of my favorites (keep in mind there are A LOT more)

Dialogue - Chicago
What Is Life - George Harrison
The Love You Save - Jackson 5
Dancing In The Moonlight - King Harvest
Everlasting Love - Carl Carlton
Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder
Daisy Jane - America
Listen To What The Man Said - McCartney/Wings
You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart
No Time - Guess Who
Free Man In Paris - Joni Mitchell
September - Earth, Wind & Fire
Miracles - Jefferson Starship
In The Country - Three Dog Night
Another Park, Another Sunday - Doobie Brothers
Fire and Rain - James Taylor

I'm going on and on - I guess I'd better stop    ;)

I love "Sky High"!  I used to play it over and over on my record player.  I thought, at the time and still with some of my friends, that i was the only one who knew that song!  I got lots of strange looks when i'd ask someone if they knew it - lol!  BTW, anyone possibly have an idea or link i can go to for an MP3 download of it?  That'd be great!

I am only in my mid 20's but here it goes:

Rise-Herb Alpert
Heaven Knows-Donna Summer
December 1963-Four Seasons
Easy-Commodores
Rappers Delight-Sugar Hill Gang(like that song)
Turn Your Love Around-George Benson(Music Choice-Sattelite Radio said this song as ahit in 1978.)
Good Times-Chic
IF You Think I'm Sexy-Rod Stewart(To me this was like a rap song.) In 1997-1998 the rap group "The Lox" even wrote an updated version of this song "If You Think I;m Jiggy". Elton John said Rod Stewart didn't sound good singing a song like this. I think Rod just felt he had to do song like this at the time because of how big disco was back in the late 70's period.

I'm also in the apparent minority who LOVES that song - I guess I'm a sucker for overproduced cheesy/novelty songs. ;D

It was stuff like this which got me into Rod Stewart in the first place - certainly must've set the stage for his new wave/pop period in the 80s with songs like "Young Turks", "Infatuation" and "Love Touch".

As for overall favorite 70's songs, I'll have to get back to ya on that. I love too many (not as much as the 80s but still). ;)

England Dan & John Ford Coley
The Commodores
Earth, Wind & Fire
Helen Reddy
Donna Summer
Three Dog Night
Neil Diamond

Abba
America
Bread
Tanya Tucker

and I could go on and on, but you get the gist of it.

True, but, Tuesday Afternoon and Nights In White Satin were both originally released here (in the US) in early 1968. They sold about two copies each. Nights in White Satin showed up on the charts again here in fall of 1972, and this time the song and the album went up the charts very quickly to #2. I think John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" album kept it from the #1 spot over here.
