Subject: what is the title of this young adult/ teen novel

when I was a kid I was an avid reader.
I used to read all the blurbs in the back of the books promoting new books.
One in particular I remember reading about was a book about a teenage boy who realized he was falling for his best friend. The problem was that his best friend was also a boy. I don't remember the title of the book but I always wanted to read it.
Does this ring a bell for anyone? Did anyone actually read it? and if so Was it well done?

I think I found it...
Its called Trying Hard to Hear You published in 1974
Got good reviews on Amazon...
