Subject: Gary Glitter, Child Molester

Written By: danootaandme on 12/26/05 at 6:23 am

So now we have Gary Glitter in Viet Nam facing molestation charges.  His defense is that he was teaching
the 12 year olds to speak English.  Now what do you suppose he was telling them to say?

Wasn't he facing these same charges years ago?

Seems to me Mr. Gary Glitter is addicted to sex with forbidden kid- fruit meaning he's a seriously SICK pedo-pervert who needs to be put away...for a nice long stay in a penal facility!!

Those are the types I really think are sorry. Him and Michael Jackson.

Nuff said.

I am a survivor of rape, thank God, but I worry for those too young or too weak to fight back or tell someone they've been sexually assaulted..

Sorry to hear that (the rape part, not the survivor part). I wouldn't have been so flippant if I'd known that - I hope you didn't take it the wrong way.

Naah, it's cool. Gary Glitter isn't. Why the h*ll do people get off on kiddie porn anyway? I don't get it...I know it's usually an illness though, just as much as alcoholism or drug addiction...

I am also a survivor of this kind of crap that Glitter is charged with and I believe that he shouldve faced the full extreme of the Vietnamese law...But then, thats too good for him...Too quick.

As far as Michael Jackson goes...Ive met the guy a couple of times and I have to say that, although simply meeting someone doesnt make me KNOW for sure, I just think that he is innocent. I mean, a lot of money was involved the first time, and this most recent time the family were well known as grifters and perpetual law suit filers. I just think they saw a target, an easy target (and I have to say MJ made himself a target) and they took aim and went for it...and lost.

Ive had my say....

Carry on. ;)

I have to say I agree with you about MJ - very easy target. I believe he is misguided and a bit loopy - but I have never felt he is a child molestor. (PS I am not a fan so its not a "sticking up for him" thing)

Thought I would paste this article from an Aussie paper today on the revolting Mr Glitter.

An ageing pop star's fantasy world comes crashing down

December 31, 2005

Gary Glitter has come a long way since he topped the charts in the '70s - and almost all of it downhill, writes Vaudine England.

IT IS a 20-square-metre room, en suite, with room service and a view. But Gary Glitter's jail cell lacks air-conditioning and privacy. There's no room to rock'n'roll. Child rape charges against the former glam rock star have been dropped but he faces another month before hearing exactly what charges for child sex abuse he will face in a Vietnamese court.

In the meantime, his lawyer says, Glitter reads newspapers and chats with his cell mate. It's a pathetic end for a man who once commanded the heights of pop fame.

The man who made crotch-crushing outfits, bouffant hair and platform shoes into a style statement now has no hair, no fancy clothes. His earlier years of drink, gambling, drugs, possible suicide attempts, a failed marriage and bankruptcy may have passed, but his tendency to fat - and fantasy - remains.

Glitter denies having sex with two girls, aged 11 and 12, but says he let one of them sleep with him because she was afraid of ghosts, and was teaching them both English, claims no one but his lawyer has felt able to defend.

In place of the thousands-strong crowds he once enthralled, he now has one companion in the southern Vietnamese beach and bar resort of Vung Tau.

"Now he's living with one Vietnamese in the room, a man who speaks English very well, so they can exchange ideas easily," said lawyer Le Thanh Kinh. Glitter's cell mate is detained for alleged robbery in a petroleum scam, he adds.

"My client seems very well. I think everything is OK. He can buy food from the canteen, some food which he likes - meat, eggs, bread, rice and soup. He has a lot of time. He can make a garden if he wants. He understands and knows his situation now."

It's terrible that there are people like Gary Glitter out there, victimizing kids...and yes, they are in almost every neighborhood, everywhere....Sad that the world is not all that safe for kids anymore. That's why I support laws that limit where child molesters can live, and mandatory registration of ALL sex offenders!

I wish I understood what makes these sick people the way they are. I know it also affects their families.

Well, how is this for quick justice?

Gary's trial opened on March 2.  He was charged with committing obscene acts with two girls of 10 and 11 years of age.

The trial ended on March 3, with a conviction on all counts.  He was sentenced to 3 years in prison, and orderd to be deported once he was released.

He also has to pay 5 million Dong to the families of the children.  Not that it means much, converted to US Currency the fine is just over $300.

Depends on the cost of living in Vietnam - that may be a fortune to them.

True, but for somebody like him, that is a joke.  Gary Glitter is probably not wealthy, but the fine is still grossly out of proportion with the crime.

I wonder what will happen once he is deported.  Most of the time, the person is returned to the country where their passport is issued, which in this case means England.

I know that in a lot of countries, going overseas to engague in pedophilia is a crime.  However, I am not sure if that is the case in the UK.  If it is, he may just end up going right back to jail.

The ironic thing is that just this weekend, I saw a bit on VH1, and it talked about his 1999 conviction.  He stated that things were taken out of context, and he was not the monster the press made him out to be.  After having to leave 3 countries for pedophilia, I wonder what he will be saying now.

Yes - I'm sure he's got enough money to take a fine like that in his stride.

We don't want him!

I don't know. If it isn't, it certainly should be.

That he was framed for the money?

If Gary Glitter took up residence here in NJ...he'd have to register as a sex offender...and that would be enough to keep him out of certain towns here...Absecon and Galloway Township are two such towns that are trying to ban child molesters and other sex offenders from living anywhere near a school or day-care center..

Gary Glitter should be castrated as well as jailed. Better that Mr. Kid Diddler become a eunuch than do more disgusting things to children!

I think they need to create an island someplace, and just move them all there.  That way, they can all be in one location, and have no access to children ever again.

And this way, Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, and Gary Glitter can all be roommates.

Blimey I don't think you can compare paedophilia to alcoholism or drug dependency. The latter two involve personal abuse of the individual sufferer, paedophiles abuse A N Other.

I'd like to see chemical castration for confirmed paedophiles.

So would I. Then if it does turn out to be an illness they can return to living a normal life if ever a cure is found - chemical castration needs to be repeated regularly (I think it's once a year).

I once read an interview with a convicted rapist who said that chemical castration was the best thing that ever happened to him - he didn't want to do the things he did and was glad that the ability to do them had been taken away. He wanted a cure for his condition so he could live a normal life.

Please don't take the above as indicating that I am soft on criminals - there are plenty of paedophiles who know full well what they are doing and should suffer the consequences. I'm only talking about people who genuinely can't help themselves.

Yes he was found guilty in the UK and jailed for a short term - on his release he was being ostracised here and that's why he headed out of England.  He's obviously into that sort of business.

WHen he was released form Jail, he moved to Cuba.  He hid out there for about 6 months until it became known where he was hiding, when he left.

From Cuba, he moved to Cambodia.  He lived there for a few years, but abruptly moved to Viet Nam when Cambodia opened an investigation on him in reguards to child molestation.  He settled in Ho Chi Minh City, where once again authorities started a molestation investigation.  He was stopped at the airport, where he was attempting to catch a flight to Thailand.  He was arrested for having sex with 2 girls, ages 12 and 15.

I guess this time he was not able to skip the country fast enough.  Cambodia is considering making a request to Viet Nam to have Gary extradited there after he gets out of jail.  This way they can put him on trial for the charges he left over in 2004.

Not only should scum like Gary Glitter be chemically castrated and jailed...they should be required to wear a tag when out on parole that says in huge letters "I am a convicted sex offender" especially if they are repeat offenders.

I cannot forgive the bastards who assaulted me. Nor can I forget. May they rot in the burning basement.
