David Berkowitz aka Son of Sam absolutely scared me...how or why someone becomes a serial killer, I'll never know.....What freaks me out is that they seem to get off on violence and death....

I forgot Jim Jones, leader of the People's Temple in Jonestown, Guyana...responsible for brainwashing 900-some people into going to the jungle, building this primitive settlement, giving him their income, even their Social Security checks in the false hope that he was their savior...and then killing them with chemically-laced Kool Aid...making serial killers like Son of Sam and Jeffrey Dahmer look tame in comparison!

Boo !  Hiss !  I know why your Lord Beeching is considered infamous, and he's a lot lower down the food chain than was Sir John Kerr  ;D  Shame on ye, sending us all out to the colony on boats and then taking no further notice of us, ha ha  :P

Mooster, jaytee, BMG and the like will know what I am talking about anyhow  :)

(PS  Go look him up, coupled with the word "dismissal" - it is a good story) - we all still talk about it and it was over 30 years ago  ::)

"By the time the 1970s rolled around, the problem had become so dire that, for the first time, law wnforcement officials felt the need to define this burgeoning phenomenon as a major category of crime.  The 1970s was the decade of Berkowitz and Bundy, Kemper and Gacy, Bianchi and Buono."

I am absolutely shocked that Joan Jett wasn't even hinted at. So tired of people saying she is an 80's icon when she got her kick start in the 70's. tsk tsk
