Subject: Blue Swede

Written By: whistledog on 01/22/07 at 11:36 pm

I am curious what hits Blue Swede had around the globe?  I can't find any info on the 'net for America and International chart positions, but here's what they had in Canada ...

1974 - Hooked on A Feeling
1974 - Silly Milly
1974 - Never My Love
1975 - Hush I'm Alive

To be honest, I've only heard Hooked on a Feeling. Good song.

Same here. (the "oogachaka" song)

For the record, "Hooked on a Feeling" went to #1 in the US. No clue on the others.

Molded Americans' opinion of Swedes for years to come.

I've heard their big hit 'Hooked On A Feeling'...and I've also heard their rendition of 'Never My Love' (which makes me cringe when I hear it!  :P)

I love Hooked on a Feeling (thought Blue Swede did it much better than B.J. Thomas). I have heard the song Never My Love but don't know if I heard Slue Swede or some other group did it.

B.J. did it 'straight', but this 'ooga-chaka' arrangement was taken directly from a British guy named Jonathan King...

I have heard the song Never My Love but don't know if I heard Slue Swede or some other group did it.

Once again the 'straight' version is by the Association (although I thought this was one of their weaker efforts) or the Fifth Dimension...

You could never mistake Blue Swede's version...absolutely terrible!  :P

I remember the Association version, never knew Blue Swede did it too.  We had the BJ  Thomas version of Hooked on a Feeling on a 45, though, I liked Blue Swede version better.

The only song I know is Hooked on a Feeling.

I love that catchy intro. ;D
