Schoolhouse Rock!

Schoolhouse Rock and Afterschool Specials. I have all the Schoolhouse Rocks on DVD! I love 'em! "Interjections", "Lolly Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here", "3 Is A Magic Number" are a few of my faves!  :)

  Schoolhouse Rock...

I know all of these other shows..!  I do, but I can't remember anything specific about them..

I think Vegetable Soup was kinda weird/bizarre/scary, for some reason...

I voted for Schoolhouse Rock.

But there are so many you are missing.  Here are a few others I would love to see come back.

Electric Company
In The News
Mulligan Stew
Inside/Out
Bread And Butterflies
Villa Alegre
3-2-1 Contact

And of course Zoom.

They did bring back Zoom but it just wasn't the same-just like they did with the Mickey Mouse Club.  :\'(

Hot Fudge, Vegetable Soup, and Schoolhouse Rock. I have an old episode of "Hot Fudge" on a beta tape in my closet.

Schoolhouse Rock (Conjunctions, baby!), Electric Company, Villa Alegre and some of the Afterschool specials.  How about HR Pufnstuf?

I think the "Puppet Shows" would not fly to well with today's kids.  The old S&MK shows, New Zoo Review would seem horribly old and outdated today.

If they were to do anything like that today, they would probably feature computer animated creatures.

In the 1970's (before cable), I mostly spent my days watching PBS.  In an era with only 4 TV stations, your only other choice during the day was soap operas.

Does anyone here remember "Mulligan's Stew" (PBS show from early/mid '70's)?

Really corny/cheesy show about a young band singing bad (and I mean really bad) songs on diet and nutrition...

Pure comedy now, but would love to see it again, thats my vote.

Yes, I remember it.  If you look back, you will actually find it in my list.  ;D

And believe it or not, I still find myself singing the 4-4-3-2 song, even 30 years later.

afterschool special, definitely. although it would be interesting to see how it would change for the current culture. i mean, growing up is definitely way different than it was back in the 70s.

I chose 'other' because Id like to bring back Seseme Street in its 1970's format...

Id also like to see:

The Land Of The Lost

Banana Splits

Shazam!

WKRP In Cincinatti

Love Thy Neighbour

and really, good television full stop.

The 70s version of Schoolhouse rocks.

So many great tunes. "Interjections", "I'm just a bill", "The Preamble", "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly", "Figure eight", "3 is a magic number".
So many classics.

This is why I probably wouldn't bring any of them back, unless they were re-runs of the originals. Even if the remake was appealing to today's kids, it wouldn't be the same for me anyway.

But to add to the list of favorite kids shows:

Captain Kangaroo

Exactly, cause shows back then were original and some of them couldn't be duplicated. They brought back The New Electric Company a few years ago but that show turned into a failure cause no one liked the new version of it. Like I said nothing beats the original, shows we grew up as a kid watching.

The problem often times is that they try to "modernize" and "update" things.  And that is pretty much what ends up killing it in the first place.

The original had great people like Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno, & Morgan Freeman (who was actually an unknown at the time). Can't think of anyone they could come up with to match that.
