Subject: Gary and Dave

Written By: whistledog on 03/20/07 at 7:03 pm

Gary Weeks and Dave Beckett were a Canadian duo who scored a brief run of hits in the 70s before retiring from the music scene in 1979 to become pilots for Air Canada

Their biggest single was "Could You Ever Love Me Again" which topped the charts in Canada, became a massive hit in Australia, and also made a minor dent in the US chart (thanks to windbreaker for the chart position).  I know it was their lone hit in America, but I don't know how well they performed internationally

Anyone else like these guys, or atleast heard of them before?  They had so many great songs :)

1973 - Here it Comes Again
1973 - Could You Ever Love Me Again
1974 - I Fell in Love With You Sometime
1974 - It Might as Well Rain Until September
1974 - I May Never See You Again
1975 - What Can You Do About It
1975 - All in the Past

I like "Could you ever love me again?". It sounds ahead of its time (1973). It deserves to have been a big hit in more countries!

You're right.  It doesn't really sound like the typical ballad of '73.  When I'd first heard it last year for hte first time in a long time, I'd always thought it was an 80s song

I really like these guys and have two of their albums. I wrote to them when they were starting their career in the 70's and received a really nice letter from Dave. He also sent me reviews and photos which I have kept ever since. I was fortunate too to meet them in concert in New Brunswick, 1976.

I love these guys.  Their songs bring back so many good memories of growing up.  But other than the radio or one song on YouTube, I can't find their music anywhere.

Please help me if you can...............Anyone.

Their songs are quite hard to find apart from 'Could You Ever Love Me Again'

I have 'Could You Ever Love Me Again', 'It Might as Well Rain Until September' and 'I May Never See You Again' on mp3 if you (or anyone) would like a copy, let me know :)

"Could you ever love me again" is one of my favorite 70's songs. One of my friends (during the 70's) had two brothers, one named Gary, and the other...you guessed it, Dave.

I used to tell my friend that his brothers wrote the song.

Which songs are you looking for? I have a few of their songs (mp3). E-mail me and I'll forward the ones I have. I had a lot of trouble finding them. Put "Gary & Dave" as the subject line and I'll know who you are.
