Subject: The Waltons or Little House on the Praire?
Written By: star500 on 05/10/07 at 6:29 pm
I always favored the Waltons more but LHOTP was good too. The only complaint I have with Little House was in the later years of the show, it started getting silly and kind of dumb. The Waltons was never dumb and was a lot more interesting. I especially thought LHOTP was silly when they added Laura adopting that little homeless girl, I believe her name was Jenny. There was no need to add another child to the mix, because in real life, they only had Rose. Another silly thing the show did was adding Nancy. She was just like Nellie, only worse. Why have another Nellie on the show? Wasn't one enough? Also, the ending of the show, when they blew up the town was silly as well.

I LOVE The WALTONS!!! My Dad has season 1 and season 2 and the Christmas special on DVD. I was always fond of Jim Bob. Never really watched LHOP too much. Do you remember the Walton's dog Reckless? :)

Sort of, LOL. My mom really liked the show and so did my sister. I saw a few of the Reunion movies but I wasn't around when the show ran on TV. I used to see it in reruns on TNN (The Nashville Network) before they changed it Spike TV.

I signed a petition to keep it in cable. I do like the show. :)

I liked the Waltons better, mostly for that cool trumpet theme song :)
My favourite character was Rev. Fordwick (as played by John Ritter)

Oh yes, the trumpet was very nice. The Rev. Fordwick was very human. Do you remember when he got married? I think it was Elizabeth that went ballistic wasn't it?

The Waltons. The only way I could get into LHOTP was via Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, but not the show itself.

Personally, I liked LHOTP better.....I watched it ALL the time...I think I've seen every episode a hundred times! ;D But..my parents LOVE The Waltons. They named me after Erin Walton...they went to Virginia onetime to visit the real Walton house.

I prefer The Waltons.
I liked LHOTP when I was little but kind of grew out of them when I got older. I much prefer the Little House books over the show.

I preferred The Waltons. I tried watching Little House on the Prairie but couldn't really get into it.
"Night John Boy" is still a bit of a catchphrase in Britain

I watched both as a kid and loved them but got back into The Waltons when I was at college and it was on on a sunday late morning, great gentle hangover T.V viewing! ;D
My Dad always joked that every episode the commentary ended 'and we never saw them again' about whoever it was who had come into their lives that episode.
have you seen the bloke who played John Boy lately he still looks *exactly* the same. :o

I just noticed the other day that Jim Bob makes an appearance on Fletch. I thought, *I know I've seen that guy before. But where..?*
I'll take the Waltons. Sometimes I'll catch an episode of L.H.O.T.P. on TV Land. One thing about that show is that the town seems to include a large population of sensitive males. There's always a grown man just letting it out, just letting the tears flow. I'm all for a good, cathartic, soul cleansing bawl once in awhile, but geez..!

I always thought it was cool that Jason was a piano player at The Dew Drop Inn.

He was. He was a great musician in real life and toured with various bands after The Waltons ended.

I've probably seen more LHOTP in reruns, but if I was to watch one now, I'd pick The Waltons.

LHOP was one of those programs that always seemed to be on throughout my childhood. I even remeber when my mom decided to pull me away from my "Inspector Gadget" to watch it for some reason. :( ::)
Away?! From The Inspector.?! Some nerve she had, your mom..!
If you happen to catch LHOP on TV again, do what I do - whenever Little Joe hugs some guy in a tearful embrace, take a drink...
Actually, take a drink whether he does that or not. You work too hard. You should relax a little go ;) ...

Oh, ya, i LOVE The Waltons
I always thought Little House was kind of boring, and tried too hard to tug at the heartstrings.
My favorite character was always the gruff yet lovable Grandma Walton, because she didn't take cr@p from anyone.
Oh, and that Nancy Oleson....she was just pure evil!!!!!
