Subject: Rock and Roll (I Gave You the Best Years of My Life)

Between North America and the UK, America was the only country to chart all 3 versions ...

1973 - Kevin Johnson
1974 - Mac Davis
1974 - Terry Jacks

I like all three versions, but I went with Terry Jacks.  Not just because he's Canadian, but I really liked his voice on every song he did.  Plus, I love knowing that he wasn't a one hit wonder http://spiffy-entertainment.com/forums2/images/smilies/laugh2.gif

I love the lyric: "I bought all the Beatles records and I tried to sound like Paul.  I bought all the Buddy Holly's, the 78s and all"

Prefer Kevin Johnson, but know the Terry Jacks version better (I have the songle somewhere).

The song is a sad eulogy for those whpo never made into the pop scene, and it tells the truth.
