Some of my faves of that era are:

Pink Floyd Animals + Dark Side + Wish You Were Here
Rush A Farewell To Kings + Hemispheres + Moving Pix
Yes Relayer + CttE + Fragile + Yes Album
Genesis Selling England + Foxtrot + Lamb
Styx Grand Illusion + Crystal Ball
ELP Trilogy + Brain Salad + Works 1-2
Supertramp Crime of the Century + Even In The Quietest
Alan Parsons Eve + I Robot + Tales + Turn Of a Friendly card (1979?)

Truly the golden age of the music I liked. The 80's were a bit drier...

'Hot Shots' by Trooper.  It's a greatest hits album, not usually the type of album I would consider a favourite (Cause it's unfair to original albums) but it's an album that I just can't stop listening to once I start

everything by led zeppelin (II, IV and physical graffiti being the best of the best) and pink floyd (although meddle and animals are real standouts among the standouts). the yes album, fragile, close to the edge (and what was their very first one?), court and spark by joni, aja by steely dan, i probably have to sound off for 2112 even though musically it's rather stupid  ;D

Good picks...and with 2112 I try not to pay too much attention to the lyrics.  The concepts are really dated.  But the music rocks..! :)

ELO ~ A New World Record
The Best of Bread is still a favorite...
Tower of Power ~ Bump City...
  Chicago X...
KISS ~ Rock and Roll Over...it's still a fun album...
The Doobie Brothers ~ Minute By Minute
Queen ~ News of the World...
  Everything by AC/DC
Supertramp ~ Even in the Quetest Moments and Breakfast in America...
  Van Halen debut...
And the Star Wars soundtrack ~ John Williams...

I always preferred the original Who album.

Nilsson Smilsson - Harry Nilsson

Both songs are great-Nilsson had a lot of great songs. One of my favs was always the Puppy Song but most people never even heard of it.

I LOVE JCS (Yeah, a good Pagan, huh?  :D ;D ;D ) I think that was first Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice work (Joesph may have been earlier) and like many of their works, a Masterpiece if you ask me.

Edited to add I just remembered another album that I love: Days of Future Passed-The Moody Blues.

I remember David Cassidy remade The Puppy Song (and it was hit again)....

I also remembered having Simon and Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' album (who didn't).... as well as Billy Joel's 'Stranger' album. Coincidentally The Stranger exceeded sales of the previous Colombia best selling album which was Bridge Over Troubled Water...

Another album I liked a lot in the early 70's was Rick Springfield's debut album 'Beginnings'

I remember David Cassidy had a hit single with The Puppy Song. I don't think Nillson released that one as a single.  :-\\

JCS - was a great rock album. To this day...no one can top Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson's vocal exchanges....
