Subject: Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds/Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison

Written By: Andria on 11/03/08 at 1:25 am

Hi, everyone, I have started a new thread. It is about my favorite 1970s pop group, Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds, later known as Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison. Either one of those names sounds like a name for a law firm, doesn't it?

Also, if anyone has any stories, lyrics, information about covers of songs performed by these performers, facts or humorous anecdotes about this highly underappreciated 1970s group other than the fact that Dan Hamilton is dead or that the group was originally the one that played in old Alka-Seltzer commercials (I already know those.), please submit. Thank you, and rock on.  8) :)

At first glance I had never heard of them (and I was a teenager most of the 70's). But I find I knew the couple of songs I picked out on Youtube and remebered (and really liked) them. Don't Pull Your Love and Fallin' In Love were good songs with great voices/harmonies.

I will check out more later....got to go to work now.

Apparently, their #1 is one of the rare occasions where the artist was deliberately mis-labelled...by this time Reynolds had gone and was replaced by Dennison...

The record company stuck to the original name as they felt more people would recognise it!

I have never heard of them.  What type of music?

I like them a lot - at least the songs I knew.  I was quite fond of their three biggest U.S. hits:

Don't Pull Your Love
Fallin' In Love
Winners and Losers

"Winners and Losers" was less known than the others, but I recall loving it as a teen when it came out.  It was one of those where I'd repeatedly switch the radio back and forth between stations to see if I could catch it being played.  Back then we had to use a turn dial to tune a station - not too fun.  But I was determined to find my song...  ::)

Good to know that!  :)  I might as well post links to the other two, then -

Fallin' In Love  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtB4AGcyw88&feature=related

Winners and Losers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOqIv3M3Zoo

The latter two hits came out years after 'Don't Pull Your Love' - the sound difference is noticable (they were released close together).  But I like all three.

A little incorrect with the sole British placing, Jason...it was 'Fallin In Love' that made #33...

'Don't Pull Your Love' was a belter that criminally failed to do anything here...thanks for reminding me!  :-[

I didn't even notice I'd done that.  Everytime I make a table for the charts, I usually do that somewhere.  I should stick to the old fashioned way with the numbers in square brackets LOL
