Subject: Forgotten 70s Songs

Written By: whistledog on 03/26/09 at 1:41 am

Here's two to begin with.  What are some others ?

Zwol - 'Call Out My Name'.  1979 single that peak at US #75 and CAN #90.  Despite not reaching the Top 40, it was a popular radio staple in Canada because Zwol (real name: Walter Zwolinski) hails from Toronto.  Had it not been for chart archives, I never would have rediscovered this gem

Carolyne Mas - 'Stillsane'.  American singer from Brooklyn.  Reached US #71 and CAN #37 in 1979

I recall "Call out my name", probably coz I was living in Toronto when the song came out. Great tune.

How about these:

Make me do anything you want - A foot in cold water
Molly - Bearfoot
Bondi Junction - Peter Foldy
Cry your eyes out - Les Emmerson
1900 yesterday - Liz Damon's Orient Express
How do you do? - Mouth & Macneal
Oh, Babe, What Would You Say?- Hurricane Smith

All little gems to me

Love that song.  Chris Thompson (lead singer for Night) had a great duet in 1984 with Jennifer Warnes on the title track to the Tom Cruise flick 'All the Right Moves'.  Never made the US Top 40, but did reach the Hot 100
