Subject: What kind of jacket and shirt is this?

This pic here is my maternal grandpa's 1972 license photo--unflattering yes but I was wondering what kind of jacket he's wearing?

Also, what kind of shirt is he wearing here, in his 1975 License pic? I've never seen a shirt that had vents or little holes like that--It looks cool and good for the summer.

A zippered jacket like that is often called a bomber jacket. It's the sort of thing often used in workwear with matching pants/overalls.
