If it was in the list I may have chosen that song. I deliberately didn't go looking for more from that year or the task would have been impossible for me... :-\\

It's not easy making a list of songs and narrowing it down to just a few. In every list, there will be some songs missing that one may like while.
But yes, "Without you" was one of the biggest hits that year. I would have voted for it as well.

Even as a lad I didn't care for radio rock. It's not that I dislike the songs mentioned, it's just that none
of them were my favorites. I've always listened to albums, progressive rock concept albums mostly, from
beginning to end. My favorite songs of 1972 are the ones on these albums.

Pictures At An Exhibition....Emerson Lake & Palmer
Trilogy...Emerson Lake & Palmer

Fragile....Yes
Close To The Edge....Yes

Foxtrot....Genesis

I am shocked and amazed....

How can you NOT have a mention of the late great Curtis Mayfield and any number of songs from the famous Superfly (Pusherman, Freddies Dead, Superfly) soundtrack?  :o

I have listened to some of those albums. Good stuff there. I like the old "Yes" and old "Genesis" stuff.

I like the older stuff as well. For me, Genesis came in three phases; really good Genesis with Peter Gabriel, even
better Genesis with Steve Hackett and not so good Genesis without either.

When I think about, 1980 ruined many a good artist. I'm not a fan of any Genesis after the Duke album and
Yes is unlistenable after the Tormato album.

Edit to add: As much as I like Genesis with Peter Gabriel, I don't like Peter Gabriel a a solo artist.

Yes, I have heard of it but never knew the name of the artist or song. Thanks for listing it.
