1977's Kentucky Fried Movie, along with 1974's The Groove Tube are two of the greatest parodies of all time. 

If you want to know where Airplane and Scary Movie came from, you need to start with the granddaddy and great-granddaddy of 'em all.  You can get 'em through Netflix, even though Netflix has been connected with every sort of nefarious activity. You name it - opium, weapons traffic, assassination, motion picture distribution...

I know KFM was the film that kick started the spoof genre, but I always thought it looked stupid and never wanted to see it because I didn't want a low opinion of John Landis.  I like  his films, and I didn't want to be disappointed.
