All four of those are really good. Not sure which ones I'm gonna vote for yet.

"South City Midnight Lady" and "Blackwater", but I'm not sure if Blackwater is 70s or 80s.  :-\\

Blackwater was a hit in 1974, so it's 70s. ;)

Love the Brothers Doobie!

My top 3...

1. What A Fool Believes
2. Listen To The Music
3. Black Water

But my favourite non-single track from them is Neal's Fandango!

I usually split the Doobie's into 2 era's. Do you prefer the "Tom Johnston" vocals era (until 1975) or the "Michael mcDonald" vocals era (1976 and after)

I prefer the earlier era. Their songs had more bite to them.

Ordinarily, my choice would be What A Fool Believes, but I went with the underdog ...

It Keeps You Runnin' peaked at #39 here in Canada.  The radio station I listen to, plays it like it was a #1 song.  I hear it so much, it's really grown on me.

A little piece of history:  The Doobie Brothers version of Take Me in Your Arms was in the Canadian chart at the same time as the version by Canadian singer Charity Brown.  Her version peaked at #5 on May 31, 1975.  The Doobies peaked at #30 on June 28, 1975, however due to a mis-print that week, it showed Charity's version in that position, when it was actually The Doobies.

Hey WD, Did you ever take a listen of The 1989 Doobies with their songs like "The Doctor", "Need A Little Taste Of Love", and "Wrong Number"?

I sure did.  'The Doctor' was co-written by a Canadian singer named Eddie Schwartz, so I was of course all over that song.  Love it!  Was a nice comeback for the Tom Johnston era Doobies

Definiately the Tom Johnston era. I saw the Doobie Brothers twice but it was with Michael Mc Donald.  8-P  I would love to see them with Tom Johnston.

I can't pass up a favorite DB's song thread.

I'll go with

Tom Johnston's
Nobody (1971),
Rockin' Down the Highway (1972),
Natural Thing (1973),
Eyes Of Silver (1974),
Another Park, Another Sunday (1974).

Michael McDonald's
It Keeps You Runnin' (1976),
What A Fool Believes (1979),
Dependin' on You (1979).

Doobie Patrick Simmons' "South City Midnight Lady" from their 1973 The Captain and Me album.
I heard it on the radio this week. A nice, seldom heard, DBs song -- Good one.

WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES.....  All their singles that hit the charts were HOT.  I love this one in particular.
