Subject: Favorite Starland Vocal Band song

Written By: warped on 01/31/13 at 12:33 pm

So what's your favorite Starland Vocal Band Song?

They had so many hit songs, kind of hard to chose only one. But try, try very hard.
I'm sure this thread will go on for several pages, arguments and debates over which song was actually better and more popular.

I had to choose that old standard "Other". They do it so well.

I went for Afternoon Delight.  :)

I love the harmonies in that one. It also tells a beautiful love story that crescendos into a magnificent climax...  Some would say a little premature (being in the afternoon and all) but for mine...this hit beats their 'other' by a country mile (with sticks and stones)!

You laugh, but ...

1976 - Afternoon Delight
1976 - California Day
1977 - Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll
1977 - The Light of My Life
1978 - Mr. Wrong
1979 - Loving You With My Eyes

AC = Adult Contemporary Chart

If Casey Kasem did not have it in his show, it did not exist.  8)

Casey Kasem was in two episodes of Saved By the Bell.  He has no say in anything :P

You both have valid points here!  ;D

... and how did I know whistledog would dig up more of their 'hits'.  ::)

From a listening experience, I have learned that a song doesn't have to be in the Top 40 to get major radio play.  That being said however, I do not recognize any of them except for 'Afternoon Delight' lol

I listened to Casey's Coast-to-Coast ATF from the Billboard charts every weekend religiously.  He was the St. Peter of Top 40 Heaven!  He had a lot to say about Top 40 songs, U2, and a little dog named Snuggles!

As for SVB, I didn't know the song was about sex anymore than any knew the Village People were gay.  I was too young to understand much about either!

Hmm, maybe I should do a "Who was your favorite member of the group 'WHAM'?" poll next.
