Subject: Favourite 70s albums

Written By: whistledog on 09/04/13 at 12:35 am

I have this one on cassette tape.  I was just listening to it earlier.  It is the debut album by Streetheart from 1978 called Meanwhile Back in Paris.  This was when future Loverboy members Paul Dean and Matt Frenette were still members.  It only reached #85 in the Canadian chart and had no charting songs, but the singles that were released:  Action and Look at Me received significant radio play ...

I also have this one on cassette.  From 1979, it is Flying Colors, the 5th studio album by Trooper.  It was released the same year as their greatest hits album Hot Shots (thus technically making it their 6th album), but in September, which means it also spanned into 1980.  The albums lead single 3 Dressed Up As A 9 peaked in the Canadian Top 40 (#24) the last week of December, but was still in the Top 40 by February of 1980.  The remaining 2 singles: Janine (#7) and Good Clean Fun (#81) both peaked in 1980.  The album initially peaked at #11 in October of 1979, but due to the success of Janine, it rose back up, reaching its highest peak of #7 in April of 1980.  Due to this, many consider it more of an 80s album, but it was still recorded and released in the 70s.

I also enjoy this one from 1979 (released actually in December 1978), which needs no introduction.  It is Minute By Minute by The Doobie Brothers.  Like almost all of my 70s abums, I have it on cassette

So many great albums during this decade, It;s probably my favorite decade for music. Great decade for classic rock. Great decade for prog rock, great decade for love songs/mellow music...even a few disco songs were good. (please don't tell anyone I said that last part.  :D)

My 3 favorite Genesis albums ever.

A way too obvious choice, you may think - but I was brought up on this album, as I suspect a lot of folk my age were...

And even though it's been superseded by many compilations since, I've still got the thing!  :)

I have this album on cassette.  Sadly, the cassette is so old, it won't even play, but I know what all the songs sound like, and I really enjoy it.
