Thanks to the forum member John Titor, he gave me a small inspiration to do my own time period of the people, places, things and events that had occurred during that year. This was the month that I was born in so I'll show you some pictures and if you would like to add some of yours, please feel free to.

Nice!

Unrelated, but I personally think the 70s were one of the best decades for music.

A jacket I remember having was styled like this (the one on the right):

http://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/fashion/daily/2015/10/27/moto-jackets/27-moto-jackets-1000.w710.h473.2x.jpg

Mine was nylon fabric, not leather - it was tomato red.  It had the fuzzy collar, though. I loved the jacket - despite that it wasn't warm enough for those Michigan winters!  ;D

Howard, in first the picture you posted, I had some slacks just like the lime green dotted ones - mine were beige and a fuzzy velour-like fabric.  They were favorites!  I wore them with my clogs or my knee boots or my platform shoes.

I sewed a lot then; crocheted too.  So I made a lot of my clothing.  I recall making a sweet doubleknit zippered jumpsuit, short sleeved, beige with red trim, and a self belt with D-rings.  I was stylish!  Another favorite outfit of mine was a lime green jersey knit halter top and pants set - I wore that all summer  :)

Elvis started gaining weight in 1973, based on his pictures. He definitely was emotionally troubled 1974 on.

Personally, that was a fun time for me, a High School freshman.  I was in my element!

This was well before I started "clubbing", as I was only fourteen, and a farm girl at that.  I was actually something of a wallflower at that time  :-[  (Thankfully I worked through most of that shyness by the time Disco hit really big...)

I recall getting into Astrology around then.  I wasn't alone.  I read all the Horoscope books.  As many others were into Astrology then, it became a good conversation piece.  Thankfully I don't take stock in it these days like I used to.

It was an amazing time for music!  :D

I think that the 1973 divorce from Priscilla Presley was the beginning of his downward spiral. Being extremely famous, like that, can
be very lonely.  :(

That graphic was extremely popular in the early 70s. It was everywhere and nobody thought a thing of it, nor should they have. It was meant to express purity, innocence, love, naturalness in a very simple, harmless way. The whole "be natural", "get back to nature" vibe was VERY prevalent then. The 70s were MUCH more open than today. If a kid in school had that innocent little sticker on a notebook in today's repressively politically correct environment action would be taken. Somehow, some way someone would twist it into being "sexist" or "it creates a hostile environment" or a "microagression" or some nonsense. How sad that things have come to such a state.

Back then, I had no interest in that form of fashion.

Why not? It wasn't your cup of tea?

The Jeffersons.

The Jeffersons actually premiered in January 1975, though the earliest episodes were taped in late 1974 and this was just before video promos became common for upcoming shows. At the time, slides with a bumper of the show was still common on TV.

It was a great time to search rolls for silver coins in North America, as it had been less than a decade since the last silver coins were made and the price of silver was starting its rapid rise on its way towards $50 an ounce and seen as a essential way to fight the inflation at the time. In the matter of a few years, silver became nearly impossible to find in circulation. The U.S. Mint considered replacing its copper cents with aluminum, but it don't come to pass.

Few pleasures topped it for this teenage farm girl in '74 than a new album to listen to!  That summer my brother brought home an album by a little heard (at the time) "new" Funk band, Earth Wind and Fire, who'd just had their first top 40 hit, "Mighty, Mighty" (not a monster hit by any stretch, but got them some airplay - and notice).  Now, despite my brother yelling at me to stop playing his album so much, I couldn't resist spinning this at every opportunity:

Love "Good Times" and for music this was my favourite from '74. A lot of YouTube vids have this video but this is the only one with original sound. This version seems to be faster than the original. Looked like a great time to be alive!
