I'm 15. I don't remember anything that happened to me in the 80's, but I figured that by listening to music, and catching up on some of the culture and fads of the period after 1991 has really helped in my understanding of the 80's as a decade, rather than as a label. As a label, I listen to too much 80's music than is good for me, I've got loads of 80's compilation CD's, and CD's by some of the most important, and unknown bands of the 80's. Some 80's bands continued to make 80's music well into the 90's though, and I've bought most of those CD's if they are by artists that I like.

I'm 27 and driving my friends insane as I have been listening to 80's music for about 7 years now. I'll be playing my own collection of 80's CD's (about 20 CDs) in my truck, living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, garage) But deep down inside I believe they enjoy it.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Of course, what I meant to say is that I'm 28.  And I remember the early 80's from a child's point of view, and the later 80's as an adolescent.  I had most of my firsts (and a few of my lasts) in that decade!

For those that know Spanish, the pun is obvious, but for the rest sin cuenta means "without count" (kind of like saying "countless" in English), but it also sounds like "cincuenta" which means "fifty". Okay, this has now been opened up. I'm sure this would better be suited to a private post, but I want to back down quickly if I'm the lone bitter old woman.

Think. Think before you type. You are fifteen years old and don't have the with nor wisdom to be this much of a smarta$$. Shouldn't you be practicing or in school or taking your Ritalin or something? I was a proponent of yours and I've watched you steadily move from amusing to aggressively annoying. Now publicly insulting, so I feel I have the right to publicly respond. Step off, little one. Mouthy boys are boring. Half conceived snide comments are pathetic. Your disrespect is reprehensible. I ask not so subtly now for you at least to keep the personal references at a minimum.

Or in words you might understand more fully, bite me.

Langdon:

You are NOT old, you are NOT bitter (I happen to find your wit and sarcasm refreshing), and you are definitely NOT alone on this one.  It happens in life that a situation gets to a point where some things just need to be said.

Bobo:

Perhaps you have heard of the straw that broke the camel's back.  Around here, saying something boneheaded enough to actually pi$$ off langdon hughes is pretty much it.  Or maybe you would better understand "now it's personal".  Say or do what you will to me, but when you start attacking my friends, you incur my wrath as well.

You have all but held this board hostage the past couple of weeks with your insane number of meaningless, immature, "I'm posting for the sake of posting" posts.  At very least, you have made this a far less enjoyable place to visit.  You make my brain hurt.  Perhaps it is my teaching background that has allowed me to make this correlation; but I don't think I'm the only one who can see that the IQ level of this board as a whole seems to be inversely proportional to your number of posts.  In "plain English" - the more you post, the stupider (and yes, I did mean to say that instead of more stupid) this board gets.

If it were just myself who had a problem with you, or even if it were just me and langdon, I would bite my tongue until it bled (as I have done several times in the past couple of weeks while trying to be nice and not respond to some of the things you have said with which I have taken issue) and say nothing, in the interest of keeping peace on this board.  I have always been a proponent of "can't we all just get along?"  But, without betraying any confidences, I do feel free to say that I have had PM conversations with several different members in the past few days, which have inevitably ended with:
Mystery Woman:  "Alright, I'll leave you to your posting..."
Other Member:  "Yes, I have to go read all the posts Bobo didn't make"
- or something along those lines.

It seems to me that you have a decision to make here, Bobo.  Since I always try to accentuate the positive, I will mention what I sincerely hope can happen.  Best case scenario you will choose to smarten up, and use this board as it was meant to be used, while making an effort to get along with the people here whom we've all grown to know and love.  After all, you do have as much right to be here as any of us.  And I'm not saying you can't play and have fun here; God knows I'm guilty of that more than most.  But please, try to contribute something besides grief to our little community while you do it.  I don't think I need to even mention the worst case scenario; I believe you get the picture.

Yeah I know what you mean.  I'm also 24, and lately I've been feeling kinda old too. I was just a child in the 80's, and having these kids ask questions about the decade like it's as old and retro as the 50's and 60's is enough to make ya feel really aged.

A bad thing to think about is that this is just the beginning.  It doesn't get any better, only worse. Can you imagine how bad it will be when you have kids ask questions about the 1990's?

Makes me wonder if anyone around our age acted this way to the 1970's back in 1992?  Hmm...

I think it depends on the woman...(as far as the "older man" thing goes" I dont really think it has anything to do with the age, it has to do with the maturity, contrary to popular belief, maturity does not neccessarily come with age. Ive dated guys that were my own age, and even one that was younger but for the most part I do better with older men, I'm 20 and my boyfriend is almost 28. I'm 18.  I remember a lot about the 80s.  More then most of you would suspect.  Not all of us that were born somewhere in the 80s are totally clueless about what went on back then.

80's rocked!  I'm 36 now and feeling bad for all the poor chaps that couldn't enjoy: THE SMITHS; DEPECHE MODE; ENGLISH BEAT; uhm, and some others.

If i go by the age everybody thinks i am, i would be illegally employed i think!!  I get no respect.  I also get come-ons from TOO MUCH JAILBAIT!  This isn't bragging, just voicing complaints.  I still feel like i'm that age but alas, 28 is where i really am.  Hopefully where i'll stay, too ;).
