Subject: The Other AEIOU song

Written By: The Fanatic on 01/11/02 at 02:11 a.m.

Does anyone remember the name of the other AEIOU song?  Not the one by ebn-ozen (SP?).  The song chorus went something like A-E, A-E-I-O-U you I sometimes cry.  A-E, A-E-I-O-U, I don't know why...  Or something to that effect.  Does anyone out there recognize this?

Could it be by Freeze?

Yes!!! It's one of my favorite 80's tunes!
It's AEIOU (And Sometimes Y) by Freeze.
Rip Jeans was right on the money!  ;)

That would be "AEIOU Sometimes Y" by Ebn-Ozn.

I like the one by Freeze much better myself.  ;)

I agree the Freeze version is so much better!

No way...the EBN-OZN version is so cool!  It's got this goofy rap to it..."So I asked her, "do you wanna go out?  Huh, do you wanna go OUT?".

I like the Ebn-Ozn version as well, mainly because it's so silly!  ;D

I seem to remember that there was also a dance version of "AEIOU Sometimes Y". I actually heard the Freeze song for the first time today, and that wasn't the other version that I remember.

The version I remember went something like...

"A-A-A-E-I-O-U-U and sometimes Y".

So I was really flipped out, you know, when she asked me if I was angry or something...

I said, "Of course I'm angry, man! I mean, this isn't high school or anything, you know.."

So I'm feeling really cavalier, and I said, "Uh, call me, you know, if you want to." Heh, yeah, call me if you want to...

So she rang me up, and she said, "You want to go out..."

Heh! Do I want to go out...

There are 178 parent languages on our planet, with over 1,000 dialects. It's amazing we communicate at all.

Languages and dialects, with one thing in common...

That sounds like the Freeez version to me.

I like 'em both.  The Dub on the 12 inch of the EBN-OZN track is great.  The Freeez track is actually titled "IOU."

Spartacus, you rock!!!  I used to hear the EBN-OZN song all the time on Lycos Radio on the web (the Retro New Wave station was amazing!), but they've since changed something, and I can no longer get the station.  Bummed!

The video was so cool, too!  I wish I'd taped some of those afternoons we spent watching MTV back then.

Just saw the video for the EBN/OZN song on "VH-1 Classic" a little over a week ago. (See my "VH-1 Classic" thread here on the '80s board.) Got it on tape when it aired that day, too... :-)

Darn! Was it on "We Are The 80's"? I've been waiting months and months to catch that video.

Don't know if any of you are aware of this, but one-half of the act passed away in 1998. Ned Liben (EBN - the dark-haired one) had a heart attack.

Yes, it was a "WATE" block. (Again, see my "VH-1 Classic" thread here on the '80s board for a complete list of all videos that aired during a two-hour period that day.) And because I caught the EBN/OZN video on a Sunday (the 13th), that means it also aired one day the previous week, as all blocks shown on the weekend are repeats selected from Monday-Friday. I've had the channel myself for about five months now, and watch it often. I know that was the first time I'd seen the video for "AEIOU Sometimes Y" on there, but I'm sure it'll air again...

Nope, hadn't heard. Thanks for the info! :-)

Funny story about the title.  I bought what I thought was the Freeze "IOU" song, however at the time I did not know the artist's name and ended up with the 45 of Lee Greenwood (sp?), "I Owe You"!
