Subject: Does anyone here buy stuff from amazon.com?
I have an affiliate program, which helps support the site.. and was wondering if people knew that when they visit amazon by clicking on one of the amazon links on the site, that they help contribute to the site in their purchase..
the reason I'm asking, is I wonder if I need to promote it throughout the site more.. I don't have any messages on the messageboard about it, so maybe I should start there..

Might be a good thing to do if people are searching for say movies from the 80s (or 70s/90s) and Amazon carries it in question. I don't know if Amazon has started carrying music yet, but if so, that would work to. Then people could have their question answered, get the movie/music/book in question, and support the site all at once :)

I do buy stuff from Amazon.com, but very sporadically. They insist on using UPS, which is no good if you are not home to sign for it. I've tried calling them to designate USPS, but I never can catch the order in time. I don't always want stuff coming to me at the office either, they might start thinking they pay me too much.
Now that I know you are affiliated, Chucky, I will use the link when I do buy from them. Is it limited to music or videos, though? I buy a *lot* of books from them..

I don't think it's limited to music/videos, but most people tend to ask questions about movies and music so I focused on them more in my post. :)

yes! books are actually even better... I get 5% of the sale cost (not including shipping) on cds, videos, etc. Books I think are 10% to 15% (depends on how it's linked and other factors, they're kinda funny about it).. used stuff, auctions, etc. I don't see revenue from..
I use them all the time myself.. I've never had to sign for anything though.. guess they aren't as strict in my area..
I've been spending the last few days building links to movies (and grabbing images).. if you check out the top ten song lists, you'll see what I've started to do with the links. (Movies are next, takes a long time to do them) I already had most of the CDs done already.

I buy something from Amazon about once a month. As my 80s books are listed on Amazon, I visit their site on a daily basis!!! ( ;) )

Why, Thank you, Bobo!!! Actually, I've noticed a definite spike in sales for my 80s books in the past month or so, and I attribute it to the upcoming "That 80s Show" and all of the commercials they have been running here in the States promoting the show!!! :)

Well I like Madonna but I'm not THAT big of a fan of hers. The music and tv book look good though :). All I need is a movie one to go with them then I can study up for Beat the Geeks. :)

Actually, I'm currently writing on a book that will feature all aspects of the 80s, including movie trivia. It's working title is The Valley of the 80s!!! :)
