Subject: To everyone under 25 stuck in the 80's

Written By: MonteCarloSS88 on 01/17/02 at 12:05 a.m.

Hang in there, I can see the 80's styles slowly coming back, I am 17 years old, and lots of my friends are still in the 80's.  And to tell ya the truth, I can't get a girl to save my own ass,  I am very good looking, its just in my school you have to be a 'trendy'  I hate trendy's.

What is "trendy" anyway? A word? A label? A style of dress? Can anyone explain? What about antonyms?

I've always understood it to be a label based upon materialism.  Trendy people tend to dress "well" (ie the latest expensive fashions) and oftentimes they may be seen as haughty or stuck up (course, this isn't necessarily the case, but it tends to go with the label). Key emphasis behind the image is that off wealth and/or success.

Antonym fashions/labels would be perhaps grunge or goth, giving the appearance and/or attitude of rebelling against society or materialism.

I'm also 17 and completly stuck in the 80's. My friends think im crazy, but their into 'pop' music, so what can u say really. I like modern stuff, but not as much as i love the music of the 80's. The fashion is slowly coming back beacuse people are starting to realise how great the decade was ( even tho there were some pretty bad mistakes!!). Im having an 80's themed 18th b'day party and i cant wait to see every1 all dressed up in 80's gear! :)
