Subject: Question for you music buffs

Written By: Falcon on 01/17/02 at 02:44 p.m.

I have a very vague question about a song that I herd as a child and I havent been able to get out of my mine ever since. My problem is I cant remember the name of the song, all I know is it is probably from the late 70's , early 80's.
And I can remember a little bit of how the lyrics go.
I hope someone out there can help me, I loved this song, and I want to add it to my collection.
This is all I have folks:
A boy goes into a corner store and after a pause he stands up and shouts out loud, something like "I have had enough"
And shortly after a girl walks into the same corner store and cries out loud the same thing.
I think the song is supposed to be about feeling helpless, and these 2 kids are the way (he the singer) sends his message of helplessness.
Sorry I dont have more, and I feel real stupid asking, but I did like the song.

The song is "What About Me" by Moving Pictures.  I've always loved that song, a great tune.

oooooh Can I have a quick drool for lead singer Alec Smith  :P god he was cute.  I saw Moving Pictures in concert several times in the 80's.  "What About Me" is considered an 80's Aussie anthem.

Don't worry about feeling stupid asking. I have thought about requesting lyrics to what turn out as some of the most obvious songs you can think of... (the ones played on commercial radio)

LOL.  That is bad.  Didn't this song get re-released in the late 80's?  About '89 or so?  I'm pretty sure that's when I bought my cassingle of it.  I remember thinking it was pretty cool the song was back, I loved it the first time it came out.  It was another of the songs I first downloaded when I first got Napster.

Oh Aphasia - you do know it !  Trust me - Every single $13 96FM concert at the Ent Cent featured Moving Pictures !!!!

Ok forgive the lyrics cos I am going straight from memory and am too slack to walk over to get the record cover. (first verse and chorus only cos I will get RSI from typing it !!!!)

Well theres a little boy standing at the counter of the corner shop
He's been waiting down there waiting half the day
they never ever see him from the top
he gets pushed around, knocked to the ground
he gets to his feet and he screamsssssssssssssssss

What about me
it isnt fair
Ive had enough
now I want my share
cant you see
I wanna live
but you just take more
than you give

ThunderV - I dont know about it being re released - maybe in the US - but not Aus.  The first time I saw Alec (he was Alec then - but when the song went into the charts for some reason he was an Alex !!!) sing it was when he was a solo singer supporting Australian Crawl in mid 82.  Then he got his band together - it must have been at least a year later when it appeared on their Days Of Innocence album and went to number 1 sometime early in 83.

You're right, ThunderVamp. They did re-release Moving Picture's "What About Me?" in 1988. It's a great song with moving lyrics!!!  :)
