Subject: Sizzler Commercials

Written By: Kryllith on 01/17/02 at 03:21 p.m.

That's something I don't ever see anymore, Sizzler commercials.  Could be because I moved away from CA and Sizzler isn't big in the midwest, but I seem to remember the commercials dying out before I left...  Anyone remember these?

Lady 1:"Where do you want to go to lunch?"
Lady 2:"I know where I want to go"
Lady 3:"I don't want to spend a lot of money."
Lady 1:"Not fast food."
Lady 2:"Definitely not fast food"
Lady 3:"I don't want to spend a lot of money."
Lady 1:"So where do you want to go?"
Lady 2:"Sizzler" (superior smile on her face like she just ended all hunger, suffering, and war on the planet)
Interlude...
Lady 1:"So where do you want to go tomorrow?"
Lady 2:"How about Paris...?"
Lady 3:"I don't want to spend a lot of money..."

Or, of course, the all you can eat rib commercials with the father and son dressing up in raingear in military fashion (which inspired the line "Let me guess.  All you can eat rib night at the Sizzler" in Ghostbusters II. :)

I don't remember ever seeing commercials for Sizzler, but I can tell you that all of the Sizzlers in my area closed down years ago.   I guess they were bought out or went out of business.  ???

That's certainly possible.  My friend was working at one in 1993 (I think), and I moved out of CA in Jan '94 so I 've been a bit out of contact with Sizzler.  Anyone know if they still exist anymore?

They are alive and well in Utah.  I live less than a mile away from one. ;D

I haven't seen a Sizzler in years.  In Maine, we had one about an hour away, but it closed down in '93 or '94 I believe.  All the ones I knew of did.  I always liked Sizzler, though, they had a damn good Teriyaki Steak.
