Yes, I remember it!!  And the phone bill that went with it too.  :P  My best friend's job was almost all travel back then, and she would miss every other episode.  She'd call me when it was done, or I'd call her when I knew she'd be back at her hotel room, and give her a full run-down.

(I didn't have a VCR, neither did she.  And yes, I am always the last one on my block to get the "latest thing").

It was a great show, and Chris and Ed were my favorite characters.

I'm sorry that the Hallmark Channel is not available in the UK but that's where you'll find the show these days in the States.

I was a late bloomer with Northern Exposure.  I didn't start watching it untill A&E picked it up.  I have to say that is one of the best series I've ever seen.  No joke!  This is a show one either loves or hates.  No middle ground on this one.

My favorite characters were Dr. Fleischman (quick-witted, one step ahead of insanity!) Maurice (Sort of an Archie Bunker type), and Chris (A spiritual, new age ex-con), Holling...oh, hell, they were all good!

Least favorite, Ed.  What a bonehead!

I loved this show too. During my freshman year of college (1992) everyone on my hall used to gather in this one girl's room who had a good TV, to watch it. This show had superb music, good acting and some really bizarre and surreal storylines. (The one about building a trebuchet stands out in my mind, as does the one where Shelly suddenly could only sing instead of talking.)

I liked Ed and Chris, and thought Rob Morrow (Dr. Fleischmann) was really cute, but irritating. My favorite character, though, was definitely Marilyn.

My step-mother was a fan of Northern Exposure so I watched it for a while.  I think I got tired of seeing all the snow though...

I ended getting into Northern Exposure when it was is syndication. Whenever I'm off from work, I catch it on the Hallmark Channel. Funny thing is out of everyone I know, I am the only fan. I guess it is an aquired taste.

They have it on over here on TV1 (a pay TV channel).

I remember the review that came out when the show first aired on free-to-air :

"...and they have a moose that walks up and down the main street..."

Seems the reviewer only watched the opening credits, because I don't remember seeing any mooses during the show (not in the main street anyway).

PS I work with a woman who's not dissimilar to Marilyn.... ::)
