Subject: Re: Comeback of 80's bands

Wellllll...I look at this way.  Just because a band's music doesn't sell millions of records anymore doesn't mean they shouldn't continue to try to make a living what they do best & enjoy.

I liked songs on the latest Go-Go's album. Hope to see them in DC in late Feb./early March (can't remember the date). Liked some songs from the newest Depeche Mode album.  I saw Duran Duran in summer of 2000 in Orlando; while most people were there for the older hits, they band played them superbly and the new songs had a lot of excitement to them, too.

There's obviously still some demand to hear these bands' music.  So why not satisfy it?

I also recently read an interview in a British mag, FHM, I think, with Philip Oakley.  According to the mag, Human League has a new album out which got good reviews and is selling well.  How accurate is that?

Indeed, their album, Secrets, does appear rather impressive. I'll have to purchase it sometime to find out. Here is the link to a review of the album

I just realised that I didn't actually give my opinion when i wrote the first post! I really liked New Order - Crystal, think the Human League's new song (cant remeber title) is ok, not as good as older stuff, didn't like the new Depeche Mode stuff and i do quite like some tracks on 'God bless the Go-go's'. Apology is my favourite track :)

You seen the link, Criz? It looks like a good album, right?

I think it depends on what you mean by "come-back".  I wouldn't classify Depeche Mode or Duran Duran (or a-ha, Erasure, Cure, U2) etc as coming back because they never
really left.  All of them released multiple albums throughout
the 90s and at least DM, D2, and a-ha have released
music since 2000 (with a-ha releasing a new one this
april and D2 currently in the works for the reunion album).
The Go-Go's, Berlin... well that's another story.

Are The Bangles attempting a comeback or did they find out that they still hate each other? (At least that was the rumour)

Kylie Minogue is going to be releasing her latest CD in February.  I happened to catch her video on VH-1 a week or so ago.  She still has her scrunched hair.  :P  The song's OK, i guess.

Kylie never went away in England ,she has steadily been releasing albums all through the 90's.She's been at number one in the charts a couple of times lately and is up for various awards for her last single(written by Cathy Denis)As to her hair, it was only curly for that particular video !

So Old? Geez, that must mean that most of us here are "so old" to you then too. Us old farts still got it goin' on. So does Rick, for that matter. When you get to where we are, so old won't seem so old. You'll see.  ;)
