Subject: good gossip, bad news...

...to quote Hairspray.

I have it on good authority that VanHalen was going to reunite and tour this summer, venues in progress, but DLR was such an egotistical poop-head the whole thing got tossed.

I was too shy to grill my source, but she seemed pretty convinced.

That rumor has been going around for years now, but I don't doubt it.

DLR probably wanted the billing to be something like "David Lee Roth with Van Halen".  He is an egotistical SOB, isn't he?

Here's a quote from http://www.vhnd.com of the webmaster's prediction...I share his sentiments.

January 11, 2002 - I've been thinking about the whole "Van Halen reunion speculation" for the past few days. The more I think about it, the more I believe it's not going to happen and we're all just wasting our time waiting for it.

Here's my prediction: 2002 will be like 1999, 2000 and 2001.

There will be no new Van Halen album. Not even a Best Of compilation. No more remasters. No DVDs. There will be no tour. Nothing.

Dave and Sammy may play a few solo shows here and there, but there will be no full-scale tours.

There ya go. Standard disclaimer: the above is my opinion only. Every statement is a prediction, not a fact. I've been wrong plenty of times in the past and I hope I'm wrong again.

it's not just DLR, it's Eddie Van Halen too.. they both have equally large egos.. at this point, neither wants to actually get along, they never have, and they never will..  I think I'd prefer if they didn't

I prefered Van Halen when DLR was part of it but the guy deserved to get the boot.  When I saw them together at the awards a couple of years ago, DLR acted like it was his show.  What a moron.

With all the past mud-slinging going on between these two characters, it's hard to tell which way is up.  At first I blamed everything on Dave, now I'm not so sure.  I know at one time it was a good soap opera, now it's just old hat.
Rubix, if you have the time, DLR's autobiography is a good  read to get Dave's take on things.  It really made me think twice about the whole VH fallout.
