I really liked Maneater and Family Man.

I was surprised to read recently that Family Man was a cover.  I had fallen into the trap of thinking because it was the first time I had heard it it must have been one of theirs.

Despite my listing "Out Of Touch" on my list of songs that shouldn't have made it to #1, I am a Hall & Oates fan.  I've liked them since the 70's.

Here are a few of my favorites:

"I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)"

"You Make My Dreams"

"She's Gone"

"Sara Smile"

:) :) :) :)

I love Hall and Oates!  The first song I heard of theirs was Sara Smile...loved it! Then Rich Girl...

Private Eyes has the most memory attached to it as I once wanted to date this girl in highschool and she did a dance to it in the talent show and she looked H-O-T hot!! I asked her out that night and she said yes...we dated for almost a year...her parent's hated me LOL!! Also, everytime we disagree'd with something I'd say "I can't go for that" and she'd say "No can do"...LOL...Everytime I hear those songs now I think of her and wonder what ever became of her....

I say words from their songs all the time. And most of the time I don't even know, I'm doing it. "Rich Girl" was the first song I heard. That was back in 1980 or 1981 I can't remember. I have been a fan ever since then. :)

Some of my faves by Hall & Oates:

Dreamtime

oneonone, have you tried GEMM for your music? www.gemm.com.  You may be able to find some Hall & Oates singles there.

I also like "Dreamtime". :) I think I used to have the single years ago.  BTW, oneonone...I was wondering if you had seen the VH-1 Behind The Music episode on Hall & Oates.  It was on a few months ago and I thought it was really interesting.  I think it's so sad that Daryl's song-writing partner passed away...and at such a young age.... :'( :'( :'(

Yes, I saw it. In fact I tape it. Yeah it's very sad that Janna died so young. It's been said, that he thought of her as a sister. :(

The first time I heard "Dreamtime" was August 1986 on the way back from San Diego to Phoenix, finishing up a family vacation in CA...

I like "Out of Touch" also.  I really like the video for this one.  I noticed that H&O liked to use (pieces of) the extended versions in their videos like "Out of Touch," "Say It Isn't So" and "Method of Modern Love."  "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" is another of my favorites.

I have the Big Bam Boom album and the 12" single for "Out of Touch."  I also have a Hot Tracks remix of "Maneater" where they used the album version to make an extended mix.  I wish I had the extended version of "Say It Isn't So" - I don't hear that song much (I should e-mail the 12 inch Saturday Night radio show).  And my buddy is dubbing me the extended version of "Adult Education."

Where did you get your extended remixes from. I look all over the net for anything. I'm starting to pull my hair out. Because I want things on hall and oates but I would love to have more things on Daryl! And I can't that much. ;D

I think I got the "Out of Touch" single at a used record store.  Mind you, I spend countless hours rummaging through old/used records at such stores.

The "Maneater" mix I got from Hot Tracks remix service (hottracks.com)  It's on the compilation The Edge Level 4.  They may be running a sale on this an other items right now (just claim you're a DJ and you can buy their items).

I checked GEMM (www.gemm.com) out and there are some copies of the 12" of "Say It Isn't So" - do a search by song title - you can probably find what you're looking for.

I only have one of their albums (X-Static), but I was a fan of theirs...

Besides some of the main songs that have been mentioned (Private Eyes etc.)...here are my favs from X-Static:

Woman Come and Goes
Portable Radio (what a disco song!)
Who Said The World Was Fair (more disco sound)
Running From Paradise (awesome song!)
Hallofon (crazy tune, but great! Always reminded me of Halloween hehe)
