I definitely agree with this assessment., especially "Lonely in Your Nightmare." Oooh! That's one of my favorite videos of all time and one of the sexiest to date. "Save A Prayer" is quite possibly the most beautiful video ever made.

Honorable mention to:

A-Ha - "Take On Me"

The Human League - "(Keep Feeling) Fascination"

Madness - "Our House"

Tom Tom Club - "Genius Of Love"

There are SO many...so for now I'll have to say I liked "Missing You" by John Waite-1984...It was so sad when they showed his ex kknocking on his door while he has headphones on and just when he's sliding them off, she stops knocking :'( and besides, it's a Great song (MUCH better than Tina Turners effort IMO)

"Parents Just Don't Understand"-DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (Will Smith)

Best - "Sledge Hammer"  Peter Gabriel

Worst - "I Ran"  A Flock Of Seagulls

Stupidest - "Safety Dance"  Men Without Hats

Grossed Me Out - *tie* "Sushi Girl"  The Tubes, and "Come On, Eileen"  Dexy's Midnight Runners
(Hmmm, raw fish vs filthy armpits...who could choose?)

The best videos according to me:

Hungry Like the Wolf-Duran Duran-great song, the pioneer of cinematic videos,  who can resist the wild babe Simon LeBon chases after  8)

Take On Me-A-Ha-awesome special effects that still stand the test of time

Down Under-Men At Work-love that song plus what a great sense of humor those guys have, makes you hungry for a vegimite sandwich

Sweet Dreams-Eurythmics-cool Daliesque surrealism, total 80s imagery as well

Words-Missing Persons-just a simple yet very whitewashed performance video but who can forget the plastic outfit

Like A Prayer-Madonna-great for the shock value of it at the time

I like everything from the very lovely & multi-talented Debbie (Now Deborah) Gibson...Please Don't Laugh...  :D to

The 1980's was a great time for music videos!   :)

MTV & VH1 actually played them as well!  :)

Unfortunately VH1 Classic & MTV 2 are only available
on satellite/digital cable!  :-/

Atleast I collect music video compilations on VHS/DVD!!!
(As a hobbie along with CDs/LPs)

Strangely enough, my prized possesions are three Debbie Gibson tapes! So what, her songs were fun and she was quite a cutie!   ::)

Currently, I have 22 tapes. (I'm not that serious of a collector. I only collect what I actually like,) And 12 taped from TV.

Atleast Deborah Gibson was never an airborne novice in her music videos.

OK, I think I've finally come up with a few after some thought.

- "Radio Ga Ga" by Queen. How can you hate a video that steals from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" so blatantly? Beautifully done.

- "Like to Get to Know You Well" by Howard Jones
- "Take On Me" by a-ha
- "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel
My animated trilogy of favorites.

- "Underground" by David Bowie. Although animation is a factor in this video as well, I just thought it was one of the more clever videos when it came to incorporating elements from the film it came from (which is "Labyrinth" in this case). It certainly shines over the hideous video for "Axel F" which features Harold Faltermeyer being sloppily shoved into scenes with Eddie Murphy and company.

- "Wild Wild West" by Escape Club. Floating disembodied limbs!

- "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House. The constant flow through room after room gave this the nostalgic feel the song conjures. Elton John used the same thing in his video for "I Don't Wanna Go On with You Like That". Very nice editing as well.

- "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" by David Lee Roth. Roth's true shining moment in history.

- "Smooth Criminal (Moonwalker Version)" by Michael Jackson. Good sets. Great suit. And the best dancing I've ever seen out of the man (he is still a man, right?).

There's my list, for what it's worth. :)

I like everything from the very lovely & multi-talented Debbie (Now Deborah) Gibson...Please Don't Laugh...  :D to
The Cure
