Subject: Debbie Gibson or Tiffany

Written By: RockandRollFan on 05/06/02 at 06:34 p.m.

I ALWAYS preferred Miss Gibson!
Writing Music-Debbie-Very talented...She writes most if not all of her own material.
Singing-Debbie-Her voice, IMO sounded more "Real"
Acting-Debbie-She acted on Broadway & will also be on an upcoming episode of "That 80's Show" or so I've been told. Tiffany did a decent job in her turn.
Personality-I've seen her in numerous interviews and she was always very genuine and kind. Not to knock Tiffany or anything but, I think Debbie just has a lot more talent...although she hasn't gotten nearly the amount of press since the 80's.  Oh, and lastly, I always thought she was much better looking, even though Tiff's in Playboy...at least Debbie is  All real. What are your thoughts ???

Yes, Debbie will be on tomorrow night's season finale, right after "That '70s Show". They're both pretty cute, but IMHO, Debbie has kept her looks a lot better than Tiffany.

R&R Fan - I'm with ya, for all of the reasons you listed above and then some.  When 'Only In My Dreams' hit the airwaves, I liked it immediately.  Then learning about Debbie, I found out she wrote, sung and produced her album...as a teenager.  Wow.  One may not like her music from that period, but ya have to respect the amount of talent she has.

I've met her once before a show...granted, it was well after her heyday of the 80's (1995, to be exact).  She was funny, down-to-earth & very generous with her time.  Which isn't unusual for her...this past week, she did a fund raiser at a local teen center in Connecticut.    A good friend's girlfriend knows someone who was at the station where Deb did a TV interview to pitch the benefit.  When Tara told Deb she drove 5 hours to get there and watch the interview in the studio, Deb made sure to give Tara enough benefit tickets for her family, and later made sure her assistant had Tara's address/phone # so as to send some t-shirts, CD's, etc.

Have also seen Deb in concert 3 times, and each time was a blast...somehow, both Florida appearances would up with me (and the rest of the crowd) standing in a typical Florida summertime monsoon :-).  So obviously I think she's great...I have nothing against Tiffany, and think she has a great voice.  But I'm definitely in favor of the Debster.

Now if we could get her to read all the praises we have for her.....maybe I could get a t-shirt! ;)

I agree with all of the above responses....Sorry, Tif...nothing against you personally!  Debbie, as cheesy as some of her songs may have been, at least WROTE her stuff and played the actual musical instruments on her recordings.  Plus I liked her wardrobe!  Bubble minis, rah rah skirts and petticoats!  Very cool..very 80s!!

Debbie was the youngest person (16) to ever write, produce, and sing her own songs.

Debbie Gibson!!!  I didn't care much for Tiffany.  She had a couple of good songs, but Debbie was my favorite.  I loved her clothes!!!!!  Shoot, I still listen to my DG tapes:)

I've hated Tiffany ever since she dated Jonathan Knight of NKOTB, so I'm going with Debbie Gibson.

I have to admit...even as a fan of the Debster's...last night's appearance on 'That 80's Show' was laaaaaaaaame.  I didn't laugh at a single thing she said.  I was *glad* when Margaret finally kicked her rainbow-chasing @ss out of the store. ;-)

Overall, didn't think the episode was that great, either....I mean, even by 'That 80's Show' standards ;-).   You know it's a bad episode when we don't even get a chance to see Roger dance.

Debbie as far as talent and Tiffany for looks (though niether has much of either). But the girls of Expose knocked me out. :-* :-* :-*

I know...she was doing her "Broadway" thing..I just meant that I LOVED her voice, even though it was a strange sort of "Fairy-tale" accent...she STILL knocks me down with her drop-dead gorgeous looks :P

Debbie, hands down!

For pretty much the same reasons mentioned.  I even picked up her '92 CD "Body Mind Soul" where she tried to "mature" her image.  Good album.   Anyone know if she's released anything since?  (besides her Greatest Hits)

As for Tiffany, never really cared for her.  I got sick of "I Think We're Alone Now"  REAL quick.

BMS is a good album...some really good dance songs in the first half of the album, if I remember correctly.

Deb's released some albums since then...'Think With Your Heart', 'Deborah', 'M.Y.O.B'...the first one has lots of ballads (I'm not big on ballads).  'Deborah' has more uptempo pop tunes I like to listen to & a few of her Broadway tunes.  'M.Y.O.B' has a few songs I really like, was released a little over a year ago, I think.  All of these are, for the most part, departures from what she did on BMS.

I was reading this week's USA Weekend where a woman from Las Vegas asked about Debbie/Deborah Gibson and they said that she has a new album out.  It also said that Deb won't do nudity.  You go, girl!

At the time I remembered Tiffany a lot more than I did Debbie Gibson...but I do like Debbie Gibson & appreciate that she wrote a lot of her own music. Tiffany's new album "The Color Of Silence" is really fantastic by the way, I highly suggest you run & pick it up.
