Subject: Looks Like T8S Won't Be Returning In the Fall...
News over at That 80s Show message board isn't very encouraging. Fox just announced their Fall lineup and That 80s Show is not included on the roster. Certainly a bummer. We all had such high hopes for a great show that could incorporate our love for the 80s along with some great writing and acting. It is very disappointing. It's not likely that we will be seeing another 80s-themed show debuting on television anytime soon after T8S's demise...

We all suspected it wouldn't last from the get-go, deep down.
We can thank most of those behind making the show for taking what could have been an awesome concept and pissing all over it with weak writing, bad casting and the overall shallowness and superficiality with which the show was introduced. :P
It's a darn shame.

Unfortunately, T8S was none of these things.

Well, I kinda wish "TBS...The StupidStation" WAS leaving. I used to get quite aggravated by the 5 minutes after the hour starts and stops....I once called and asked why the shows were on that time schedule and the lady answered with "Because Mr. Turner Wants it that way" so I don't watch much anymore....especially when the braves are on!

my sentiments exactly! i saw 1 show and couldn't stomach the entire half hour. some things are just wrong and shouldn't be and 'that 80s show' was one of them.

it was just to derivative... they tried to use the formula that worked for "That 70s Show" but didn't come up with very good characters... I'm all for a show set in the 80s, I just don't want it to be a lame imitation of another show..
Grounded For Life (which is by the same people who did That 70s Show and the 80s one), has had some excellent 80s flashbacks... the last one had the mother flashing back to one of the members of Run-DMC helping with their first born's birth at Live Aid.. now that's comedy...

GO BRAVES! Oops...was that my outloud voice? Heheeee...well you don't have much to worry about this year b/c they're sucking bad....but now we're off topic....
I agree with ChuckyG...and most on here...I just couldn't get into the show. The formula worked well with T7S and the characters on that show are great but T8S just doesn't have the characters to make it work.
Thank the Lord there won't be T9S!!

I saw the Grounded For Life flashback to the 80s last week, too, Chucky. I hope they do more 80s flashbacks because at least that show has good writing, acting and directing going for it!!! :)

they've done several in the past before.. I didn't see it mentioned in any of the articles about fox, as far as being canceled or picked up.. Titus got canned, which bums me out, but the rest weren't a surprise...

Fox has totally torn their lineup apart, and several shows were canceled then brought back, like "Andy Richter" and the new series, "Firefly". I liked so many of the comedies, especially "Family Guy" and "Titus". Looks like "24" will be going into a second day, which is great.
IMHO, Carsey-Werner-Mandabach had two Fox shows "on the bubble" this year, (T8S and GFL) and only had the clout to save one. GFL was consistently getting better ratings, and was closer to syndication, so that's what Fox picked. Sad to hear, but not too surprising. I loved that GFL episode, especially the joke: "'REO Speedwagon was there!' 'OK, now you're just making up names!'"

"I watch the Cosby Show on WGN at 4:00."
"I watch the Cosby Show on Nick at Nite at 8:00."
"I watch the Cosby Show on TBS at 3:05."
What is the point? You get thrown off schedule, nobody watches their favorite show at 3:05, they watch it at 3:00. So, you go to watch at 3:00, then you have to wait 5 minutes for the previous show to be over, then 5 more minutes for the damn commercials.

Back to the real topic.. I never liked T7S, OR T8S. I am kind of glad it's not coming back.

I LOVE "That 70's Show"...even though 80s was getting better, I think 70's is Much better....just my opinion ;)
