Subject: Elvis Costello and the Attractions

I've recently really got into their stuff and I was wondering whether anyone else who likes them has any recommendations for me? I only own a few of their songs- and they're fantastic: 'Olivers Army', 'Can't Stand Up ...', 'Every Day I Write The Book' and 'Ship Building'. Any other good ones? :)

I closed many 80's nights with "Good Year For The Roses."  I like "Pump It Up" also.

I like Allison.  Does anyone know what that song is about?

End Quote

In an interview with VH1 Storytellers, he said something to the extent that he imagined an encounter with an old girlfriend at the grocery store (?) after so many years of not seeing each other. He's famous now and in the process of writing a song called "Alison." It's how life would be if he became famous...he goes on to describe how the girl (a woman now, but he comes off as frozen in the past) talks about her life and her husband - but notice how in the end he says the line, "my aim is true..." Sounds good or bad? Depends.
