With all that's happened to this classic band in the last 1-2 years, I consider myself very lucky to have gotten a chance to see The Ramones perform live before the passing of Joey and now Dee Dee. Caught them on their Adios Amigos tour in NYC in early '96; the concert was actually taped for their Greatest Hits Live album that was released later that same year! (So if you own that one, listen for me hollering in the audience, lol.) Even got to meet the late Joey Ramone after that show; he was very cool...

I got a second chance at seeing The Ramones when the group held an in-store signing in NYC on July 20, 1999, the day their new 2-CD Anthology on Rhino hit the streets. Only a limited number of passes were handed out by the store for that one, but a music buddy & I were able to get a hold of a couple. W/ one exception, everyone who'd ever been an official member of the band throughout its history was there at the signing, which was pretty neat. Got to meet Joey for a second time, and of course Dee Dee, too. Chatted briefly w/ them all, and got all their autographs on my Anthology CD box. :-) It's a shame the band will never be able to record again... :-(

Dee Dee actually passed away yesterday (Wednesday). Oh, and just for the record, MDC, none of the Ramones are/were related (it was just a name they all took on) - kinda like the Thompson Twins, lol...

Actually, this is the first time I've heard that Dee Dee Ramone died. How sad and ironic  :'(.
