Subject: Madonna News Bit!

According to The New York Post, Madonna's father broke news to a British newspaper during the weekend that she is pregnant.

This little drama should be called As Madonna's Ovaries Turn!  :) Apparently, Madonna's reps are saying that the interview with her father was misquoted and that she isn't pregnant at all. Well, if she is pregnant she won't be able to conceal it for too much longer!!!  :)

It's a good thing she has used birth control for years otherwise you could say:
There was a Madonna, Who Lived In A Shoe,
She Had So Many Children, She Didn't Know What To Do :o

I saw the now famous pic of her youngest tenderly touching her belly and I was convinced. Yeap! That was absolute, 100% irrefutable evidence that she's indeed pregnant. No doubt about it. Not in the least. <Sarcasm using The National Enquirer logic>  ::)

This is no longer news to me since Madonna is married to Guy Ritchie the director, as opposed to her previous out-of-wedlock childbirths. I heard Lourdes, her daughter is a brat.

A brat? Wouldn't you be, if Madonna was YOUR mother?

;D

Now it's not good to be so judgmental, J.C. It's also not nice to spread rumors, false or not, especially negative ones about a child.

But this one came out of the horse's mouth, per say.

What I want to know is...why does it matter?  Why is it news that a celeb is pregnant or that their child misbehaves.  It just drives me crazy....Tabloids never went crazy when I was pregnant (and out of wedlock at that :o)

Unfortunately, we live in a culture that puts these people on a pedistal. IMO, acting (or singing or writing) is just a job like any other, and it's certainly not as important as some jobs, like doctor, nurse or educator.  But the general population seems to have a need to know every little thing there is to know about celebrities and those of us who don't give a rat's ass have to sit back and endure.  ::)

Ok, ok. I don't care much about celebrities personal lives either, but a good deal of people find it entertaining and some are genuinly interested because they're fans, etc. I try not to judge. I aslo try to think of what other people may like, thus posting what I think would be interesting to them. I accept everyone's likes and dislikes the best way I can and I try to be objective. I think there are some threads on some boards that are boring and pointless sometimes. I read them anyway because I am in a position where I must. But I also know that some people do enjoy them, so I don't think anything particularly negative of them. I just don't participate.

I'll also add...

Celebrities and everything they are and represent are nothing new and in a general sense have always been a part of life, as are the fans who help them get there. We all contribute to this in one way or another by either going to a movie or buying their records. It's just an innevitable part of culture.

IMO, some people are fascinated by the celebrity because they are exposed more than, say, a doctor. It's not a doctor's job to make himself available to the media, but it is an essential part of the job of a celebrity. Thus, doctors don't get as many fans. Being a celebrity is a job in itself folks.

Oops. Sorry if anyone took my post to heart. I wasn't making reference to this particular thread nor to any one particular person. I was merely speaking about the population at large, and answering dagwood's comment.

And to clarify, there is nothing wrong with being a fan of an actor or singer or whatever. The problem I have is when people allow their lives to revolve around celebrity. They have to know what color toilet paper is in Leonardo DeCaprio's bathroom, who Tom Cruise is sleeping with, is so-and-so really gay? I don't think we have anyone like that here. I am a KISS fan, as many here know. As such, I probably know more about the band than any of the regulars. Alicia is a fan of Marilyn Monroe; 80s Trivia of Madonna, so they would know more about those stars than any of the rest of us do. But I doubt seriously that either of them has an obsession.

Again, no knock on you for starting this thread, Hairspray. My apologies if that's the way it sounded.

I really like Madonna but I don't think I'm obsessed with her, luckily. At least I don't spend thousands of dollars to follow her around the world like some of those wackos out there. We also have to keep in mind that many celebrities have to put up with disturbed individuals that threaten them and their lives, stalk them, send them horrible letters, and generally make their lives miserable. Just because someone is in the public eye doesn't mean they are infallible.  :)

Heeey!!!

Do I really seem that uptight to you guys and gals? ? ?  :o  :-[

Just because I get speachy doesn't mean I got offended. I'm not offended now either.

I was just making a few points. That's all. No biggie.  :)

True, and I don't fault the celebs for all the pub they get. If there wasn't a mass market for all that stuff, then we wouldn't hear a peep about them. And like I have told a friend of mine, there isn't enough money to make me trade places with a celebrity. I value my privacy too much.

I like a bit of celebrity gossip every now and then,it's a bit of escapism really. As to celebrity pregnancies the quote that made me laugh the most was Catherine Zeta Jones/Douglas being asked if she was pregnant again or not and she replied"I'm not prepared to comment on that at the moment"!!!As to Madonna the British press have been speculating for MONTHS now.......

If Madonna really is "in the family way" I'm happy for her and her family.  But since it's neither official nor obvious, I can't really say much, other than I hope they are all happy anyway.

Celebrities do lead very public lives, but they should also be entitled to some privacy, too.  For example if starlet X, trips and breaks the heel off her shoe on the way to a nightclub, making everyone laugh, I really don't think she should go out of her way to stop any potential photos from being published.  But by the same token, she should have the same privacy inside her own house that I do.

People would be horrified (for the most part) if a photographer were to point his camera in such a way as to see in my window, with ultra-ultra telephoto lens, and see what color my panties are, or what my child is watching on tv, then publish them for all the world to see.  So why do some people think it's ok to do that to the celebrities?  Most of them will come out of the house and entertain us, eventually.
