Subject: What's it called? (please help)

Written By: pell (Guest) on 06/18/02 at 02:08 p.m.

Can anyone tell me the names of these things? I’m trying to find them on the Net.

1. Children’s book where two animals (a mouse and a bird, I think) sneak into a house to see how people live. Very cartoony. I think it was called something like “In A People’s House.”

2. A foam shark hand puppet for the bathtub. I think it was an Avon product and it might have come with bubble bath.

3. A superhero memory game. This was a matching game with a square of tiles set in a plastic box where you flipped over the tiles to match character faces. The characters were DC Comics characters like Superman, Lois Lane, Batman, Lex Luthor and Mr. Myxlplyx (however it is spelled).

4. Children’s book where Superman visits a boy and his mother at home. I forget the reason for Supe’s visit, but it was probably to help mom convince the boy to do something he was supposed to do. This is not a comic book and Superman is not drawn in the comic-book style, but rather more cartoony-illustrative.

I’d appreciate any help by posting here, or e-mailing me at:

“In A People House” is the name of the book.  :) It's by Dr. Seuss.

The Review:

In typical Dr. Seuss form with rhymes and fun, a bird takes a mouse on a tour in a people house. The hilarious ending to this guided tour comes when the people of the people house discover the bird and mouse and promptly escort them to the door.

Good little book! Brings back fond memories. :)

Thanks, Hairspray.

I expect the other three will be tough to find, but I'll keep trying.

I had one of those shark mitts too. Those were definitely an Avon item because my mother used to order a lot of stuff from the catalog. I think there was a series of those mitts as well. Fuzzy memory, but maybe there were other animals.

Still, nothing beat rubbing that shark all over yourself in the tub after a long day of grade school.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers the shark. Maybe I'll find it after all.

By the way: the children's book with the visit from Superman was called "Tell Me A Trudy." That was one of my favorites.
