How can someone get over that kind of thing?

The past, or the early period in the 1980s, great in many respects, but especially the unsurpassed-since music.

There are many times when I reminisce about my life in the early 80's.  I know that when I hear music of that time I am always taken back to my high school days and the simpler life I led back then.

I miss mine every single day. I miss my friends, the parties, even high school ??? Things were much easier. Luckily me and some of the old gang still hang out. Unfortunately a couple have died. R.I.P. Thank God for music, it really jogs the memory. I miss the whole decade. For me it was great. I made alot of mistakes but all in all it was great. In 1988 I met the mother of my son so that was the best part. He's 8, I listen to 80's music all the time in hopes he will enjoy it.

I miss my past as well. Now look at my life:

My friends are now mostly considered to me,nutjobs.
My girlfriend has broken up with me.It has been 10 months.

Back then in the early 80's,I had tons of friends and I was single.I think I will keep it that way. -howard-(I'm so funkee!) ;D

I miss it, too.  I miss not having to pay bills.  I thought I was so picked on when my mom made me buy my own clothes after I got a job. :o  I wish that was all I had to worry about now.

Then again, if it were the 80's again, I wouldn't have my daughter.  I guess it's sixes. :P

Wow...there is a lot of this going around, I guess! ;)

I don't have it...I am optimistic about what the future holds.  :)  It would be nice to pop back for a short visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there.  :)

Yeah I miss those days some times. There was a great feeling in the air for me and my buds.It was a time of such stupid innocense and discovery. We had the world by the shorts or so we thought. It was like every song that was on the radio has left a spot in my heart.Still to this day I hear a tune from then and I am right back there quite often feeling the same type of feelings and emotions. My girlfriend who is way younger and was only a spud when the early 80s were happening doesnt get it and thinks I am wacky.Im not sure if the kids of today will ever get the same thing out of the 00s.I hope so because it was great for me and yeah it would be neet to go back for a while but I strongly believe that memories should be left as they are and not try to relive them.I am rambling now and I forgot what I was going to finish with.I like using the comment "the older you get the better you were"I really think it was a great time and some days it gets better and better.

There was a wonderful radio station in SF in the 80s - played the greatest - the Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, the Smiths, Ramones, the Clash .... only to sell out and become a corporate station!  Now they only play Limp Bizkit and ... I don't know .. whatever else is popular now.
Here's what's depressing me - last weekend was all flashback good music, so I actually tuned in and it was glorious.  But the weekend's over & the crappy music is back.
The weekend was just a reminder of how great radio used to be, and how it's not gonna be that good again.  :'(
