something I threw together a few months ago.. it's only going to be on the site for a couple of days, so grab it and play it and pass it around... You need shockwave installed on your machine for the flash app..

I agree with you one hundred percent.  It was a sad day when Watterson decided to "retire".

I loved Calvin and Hobbes also, but I have a question to anyone who knows the answer. I went to school with a guy named Watterson and always heard that C&H was written by his uncle. Does anyone know if this is true?  I'm from central Missouri. Bret's mom and her family are from here so to my knowledge there aren't any other Wattersons in the area.  Just checking...

I also liked Ziggy- man of few words with lots to say!

Calvin and Hobbes is/was always brilliantly written and will always be one of my favourites with Peanuts.

The best comic strip of the 80s was a three-way tie:

Calvin and Hobbes
Garfield
The Far Side (even though it was technically a panel and not a strip)
:)

as much as I liked Garfield as a kid, I can seriousily say that a three way tie would have had Bloom County not Garfield.. even though he was everywhere.. Garfield seems to have just started repeating itself after the first few years..

You'd think that a strip that bought so much happiness to my life wouldn't hurt so bad. I still have the very last one clipped and sealed. Seeing the eternally mischievous duo go off to play in a fresh new world covered with snow was sad and exhilirating at the same time.
