Subject: Aretha F

Hello, nice board here. My best compliments

I noticed that Aretha Franklin got the credits for the song "respect". I believed that too until one two weeks ago when I saw a concert with Otis Redding at Swedish telly, there he claimed that he made the song. I made some background check and found out that in 1965 he released respect, 2 years later he gave the song to Aretha....

just wanted to spread my new wisdom....

edit: the reason of why I put the message here at the 80's depite I was talking about about one song from the 60's was that I found the cover of dexy's midnight runners in the 80's section...

cheers!

According to allmusic.com Redding did indeed write the song. Good call. It has been recorded by such artists as Reba McIntyre, Redding himself, and Chris Hunter.
